Billie Christopher, 88, of Meridianville, Ala., died Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2012) at her residence. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Hazel Green Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Steve Hale officiating. Burial was in Stateline Cemetery. Hazel Green Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Robert Lee Curry, 71, of Ardmore, Ala., died Saturday (Sept. 1, 2012) at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Ala. Born Thursday Dec. 26, 1940 in Union City, Tenn. he was the son of the late Joseph curry and Martha Baulch Curry. Mr. Curry had lived in Ardmore for the last 30 years, coming from California. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife, Mary Annabeth Ward Curry. Surviving are son, James Robert (Joy) Curry of Madison, Ala., daughter Mary (Joseph) Krzyzewski of Ardmore; mother Martha Curry of Posen, Ill.; brothers, Larry (Jane) curry of Posen, Ill., Jerry (Betty) Curry of Athens, Ala., Carl David (Mercedes) Curry of Lauren, S.C. and Bill (Donna) Curry of Lexington, Ill.; grandchildren Nicholas Krzyzewski, Anna Krzyzewski, and Katie Krzyzewski. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. John E. Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Carter Hill Cemetery, Taft. Charles Douglas Faulk, 70, of Ardmore, Ala., died Monday (Aug. 27, 2012) at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Ala. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mary McKnight Graham, 73, of Ardmore died Friday (Aug. 31, 2012) at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. Graveside services were conducted Sunday in Gatlin Cemetery with Bro. Dale Mitchell officiating. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ora Maxine Lovelace Hansard, 93, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday evening (Aug. 28, 2012) at her daughter’s residence. She was a native of Missouri and the daughter of the late Elmer and Edith Miller Lovelace and the widow of the late Verlin Hansard. She was a homemaker and a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Festus, Mo. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Tipton of Fayetteville and Gail Dees of Missouri, and son, Mark Hansard of Texas. Funeral services will be held in Festus with burial in Memorial Gardens in St. Louis, Mo. Higgins Funeral Home assisted the family.

Robert C. Honey, 92, of Fayetteville, died Thursday (Aug. 30, 2012) in Mt. Pleasant. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Ola M. Reynolds Honey. He was a fork lift operator for Scovill Manufacturing. He attended Locust Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant and Northside Church of Christ in Fayetteville. Mr. Honey was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Honey; great-grandchild, Kaitley; brothers, Knox, J.D. and Henry; and sisters, Alease and Daisy. Survivors include his sons, Carroll Davis and Pam Honey of Mt. Pleasant and Roger Honey of Fayetteville; brother, Tom Honey of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Chris, Justin, LeAnn, Brandy, Angey, Trint, Ryan, and Megan; great-grandchildren, Bethany, Stephanie, Steven, Kelsey, Ethan, Earon, Shayla, Logan, and Jayden. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bert Watson and Randall Sprouse officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Donald Lee Hopkins, 44, of New Market, Ala., died Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2012). He is survived by his wife, Bessie Hopkins; two daughters, Whitney Hopkins and Michelle Hopkins; his parents, Bill and Peggy Hopkins; one brother, Scott Hopkins and wife, Julie; one sister, Lisa Potter and husband, Mike; four nieces, Katie Potter, Tasha Moore, Tiffini Cowan and Jamie Cowan; three nephews, Justin Hopkins, Jarrod Potter and Joshua Moore; and two sisters-in-law, Louise Moore and Sherry Cowan. Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Hopkins. Memorial services were held Friday evening at Berryhill Funeral Home with the Rev. Pam Frye officiating. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.

John Harmon Hurt, Sr., 92, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday evening (Aug. 29, 2012) at Lincoln Medical Center. A native of McNairy County, he was the son of the late Hugh Lee and Elizabeth Griffin Hurt. Mr. Hurt was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired purchasing agent with Marshall Space Flight Center and a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Davis and husband, Johnny, of Fayetteville; son, John H. Hurt, Jr., and wife, Judy, of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Christy Smith and husband, Mike, of Goodlettsville, and Keith Hurt and wife, Charla, of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Charli Ann Hurt, Josi Hurt and Griffin Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hurt was preceded in death by sisters, Elma Crook, Emma Plunk, Elester Hurt and Elizabeth Davis. Funeral services were conducted   Saturday morning at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens beside his wife, Alda Monks Hurt, who passed away in April 2012. Gerry Boyd Kennedy, 69, of Ardmore, Ala., died Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2012) at his home. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bros. Danny Green, Jeff Armbrester and Greg Morrow officiating. Interment was in Ready Cemetery, Toney, Ala. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Gordon Joel Marshall, 88, of Fayetteville died Saturday evening (Sept. 1, 2012) at Lincoln Medical Center. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Joel M. and Ollie Monks Marshall. Mr. Marshall was retired from Copperweld and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army in which he was a member of the 272nd Field Artillery Battalion. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Anna McAlister Marshall of Fayetteville; daughter Karon Smith and husband Aubrey of Fayetteville; grandson Jason Smith and wife Erika of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter Andrea Evans and husband Bradly of Fayetteville; great-granddaughter Addison Evans; sisters Edith Northcutt and Iris Davenport of Woodbury, and Corrine Crowell of Hazel Green, Ala.; and brother Wilburn Marshall of Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by sister Ruth Rhoades and brothers William (Bill) Marshall and Loyd Marshall. A graveside funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family is Wednesday evening (Sept. 5) from 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Betty Gail Martin, 54, of Elkmont, Ala., died Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2012) at her home. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bros. Dwight Rayburn, Anthony Anderson and Alan Hughes officiating. Interment was in Bottoms Cemetery, Athens, Ala. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Richard “R.G.” Miller, 77, of Toney, Ala., died Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2012) at Huntsville Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bro. Chris Goodwin officiating. Interment was in Huntsville Memory Gardens. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

 

Mrs. Willa Mae Murray, 81, of Hazel Green, Ala., died Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2012). A graveside service was conducted Saturday afternoon at Stateline Cemetery. Hazel Green Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Marci Siniard, 68, of Mobile, Ala., passed away on Saturday (Sept. 1, 2012). She was the general manager of Alabama Flag & Banner South in Mobile. Through her work, she was a dedicated, devoted, patriotic advocate of America and the armed forces. She is survived by her husband, Damon Siniard; children, Belinda (Terry) Kennedy and Grace (Dusty) Harris; grandchildren, Christopher (Christina) Kennedy, Mandy Kennedy and Stephen Melson; brother, David Nunley; sister, Judy Vessels; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. A celebration of her life will be held at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m. Marci had requested that in lieu of flowers being sent for her that her friends and family send donations to Hope House. Phillip Howell Smith, of Talala, Okla., died Monday (Aug. 27, 2012) in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 26. Phillip was born Nov. 18, 1985 in Boulder, Colo., to Richard Clay and Mary Elizabeth (Peters) Smith. Phillip was a student. He enjoyed playing the guitar, writing music and poetry. Phillip was a kind soul and had a big heart for helping those in need. He could make anyone laugh. Phillip loved to cook and travel. He saw the greatness in everyone and the beauty in everything. He is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth (Peters) Smith of Talala; brother, Matthew Morrow of Skiatook, Okla.; sisters, Mary Morrow-Hughart and husband, Matt, of Owasso, Okla., and Katie Smith-Tipper and husband, Brent, of Fayetteville; aunt, Arden Smith-Humphrey and husband, Con, of Fayetteville; nephews, Nathan Morrow, Ryker Morrow Jacob Hugart and Walker Tipper; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Clay Smith; maternal grandparents, Lewis Howard and Donnie Ann Peters; paternal grandparents, Robert Clay Smith and Maudie Howell-Smith; uncles, James Peters and Robert Peters; and aunt, Dora Rowden-Peters. Funeral services were held Saturday at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, Okla. The Rev. Charles Rowden officiated. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry.
