Bates descendants meet

For the first time in over 100 years, descendants of Charlie Newton Bates and Eather Williams Bates met at the original homeplace on Chenault Ford Road. On July 14, descendants from seven of the original eight children attended, along with relatives from Washington, Michigan, South Carolina, California, Texas, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee.
