Volunteers are needed for one of the largest Hands of Mercy Outreach Center’s Mobile Food Pantry to be held on July 14 at the Lincoln County Fair Exhibit Building beginning at 11 a.m.
Approximately 125 volunteers will be needed to help with the distribution and are asked to meet at the Exhibit Building by 10 a.m.
In addition to distributing 250 food boxes, volunteers will be handing out children’s shoes and backpacks to those who have been pre-registered. A local salon will be providing free haircuts for school-age children, as well. Games, face painting and animal balloons are part of the offerings, as well as free hotdogs and drinks provided on a first come, first served basis.
“We just wanted it to be fun for them,” said Tina Hudson, administrator, Hope Assembly.
Recipients of the food boxes should bring identification, such as a driver’s license, as well as proof of residence, such as an electric bill.
Hands of Mercy is asking the community to join together to collect school supplies for needy children. Supplies include 24 box Crayola Crayons, folders with brads, Fiskar scissors (five plus and older), glue sticks, tissues, index cards and Pink Pearl erasers. Drop-off locations for the items are Marvin’s Restaurant, Shoney’s Restaurant, CB&S Bank and Bank of Lincoln County. The deadline for school supply donations is June 18.
Hudson may also be contacted for more information or to pick up supplies at 433-7604.
Monetary donations are also needed to help purchase new shoes and back packs. They may be sent to Hands of Mercy, 28 Deer Trace Road, Fayetteville, Tenn., 37334.
“We’d like to thank everyone who has given donations or monetary funds for things we need,” said Hudson.
