Community invited to RCA for first varsity game in the area
Riverside Christian Academy’s varsity football team will kick off their third season in the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference eight-man football league on Friday night at 6 p.m..
The Knights are the reigning back-to-back MTAC Champions, and their first game of the season will be a rematch of their first-round playoff game last October against the Hendersonville Christian Academy Crusaders.
“We are excited to test our summer preparation in a game situation. I’m really proud of the hard work our team put in over the summer; all of our varsity players met their max goals for strength conditioning,” said RCA’s Head Coach Travis Creasy.
The Knights expect the match-up against Hendersonville on Friday to be a good one.
“I feel like we know these guys well. This game will be the fourth time we’ve played them in two years. We beat them 58-34 in the first game of the season last year and then ended their season in the first round of the playoffs in a 52-36 victory. They will come ready to play, and we have to be ready for that,” said Creasy.
Coach Creasy also said he is really excited about the leadership on his team this year. He has two seniors who have played football at RCA since they were in fifth grade. The Knights also have several players who played on both the 2012 and 2013 MTAC championship teams.
“We also added two seniors to the team this year who have never played football but are great kids on and off the field. They have been a great addition to the group,” said Creasy.
In celebration of the return of football, RCA is inviting the community to their first game on Friday for a discounted admission price of $3 per person; kickoff is at 6 p.m.
“We are excited to be able to host the first varsity game in the county for the second year in a row. We had a great crowd last year, and we hope to see the same this year. Eight-man football is a fun game, especially if you love high-powered offense; the average amount of total points scored in our games last season was 91, so there is definitely a lot of big play potential!” said Creasy.
The Knights will kick off on Friday night at 6 p.m. at Knight Stadium. Fans can also tune into WYTM to catch a live broadcast of the game.
