Kevin Darnell Appleton, 45, of Ardmore, Ala., died Thursday (July 31, 2014) at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Hargrove officiating. Burial was in Charity Cemetery in Hazel Green, Ala. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Vicky Lynn Busch, 28, of Toney, Ala., passed away Saturday evening (Aug. 2, 2014). Mrs. Busch was the daughter of Bobby Lawrence Bailey and Sheila Gail Jones Melton, who survive. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she is survived by daughters, Chloe Gail Bailey, Kelly Brook Busch and Macy Anyanna Busch; step-father, J.D. Melton; brother, Bobby Chad Bailey; sisters, Kayla Milton and Kassey Milton; grandparents, Marvin and Charlotte Bailey and Jimmy and Rachel Tittsworth. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Homer and Marvelene Jones. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery. Geneva Clark, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday (Aug. 1, 2014) at Lincoln Care Center. She was born on Aug. 9, 1925 in Kelso to the late Eddie Guy and Leona Hunter Thompson. She was a longtime resident of Patrick Road and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Clark; sister, Carrie Dickey; and brother, James (Jack) Thompson. Mrs. Clark is survived by her daughter, Mary and Bobby Poole of Fayetteville; sisters, Margaret Gilliam and Dorene Rogers, both of Fayetteville, and Joyce and Joe Payne of Nashville; two granddaughters, Michelle Poole Hill and Tonya Poole Steelman, both of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren, Eliza Hill, Rylan Hill, Weston Steelman and Brayden Steelman, all of Fayetteville. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Ella Louise Rodgers George, 79, of Hazel Green, Ala., went to meet and be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Thursday (July 31, 2014). She was born on July 31, 1935 in Limestone County, Ala., to the late Jessie Raymond and Elsie Pope Rogers. . She was a devoted homemaker and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Elias L. Rodgers and Mattie L. McNeese, and maternal grandparents, Benjamin F. Pope and Pinkie Sisk. Mrs. George is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Edgar George of Hazel Green; daughters, Pamela and Mark Wimberly of Hazel Green, Diane and Terry Clardy of Madison, Ala.; son, Mike George of Harvest, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Jason Ellis (Jessie), Jared Ellis (Stephanie), Jody Ellis (Rachel), Jennifer Grimes (Stan), Lyndee Gill (Jeremy), Luke Wimberly (Melanie), Brittany Rozar (Jason), Christopher George; 13 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Ellis, Megan Ellis (Austin), Dawson Ellis, Isaiah Gill, Ella Grimes, Logan Ellis, Jalyn Gill, Sadie Ellis, Cara Grimes, Landon Ellis, Cheyenne Ellis, Natalie Rozar, Alyssa Rozar; step-great-grandchild, Hunter Allen; and great-great-grandchild, Kael Holt. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Revs. Milton Martin and Edward Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Gatlin Cemetery. June McGee Groce, 70, of the Mimosa Community, died Wednesday (July 30, 2014) in Huntsville Hospital. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late D.L. McGee and Clemma Moyers McGee, who survives. Mrs. Groce started her banking career in 1968 with Union National Bank and was currently an employee of the First National Bank. She was a member of the Mimosa Church of Christ, where she taught the cradle roll class, and for many years was the treasurer for the Mimosa Community Club. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Billy Groce, and daughter, Cindy Groce, both of the Mimosa Community, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Jones and Bro. James West officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Charles Milo Lucas, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday (July 27, 2014) at his residence. Memorial services were conducted Saturday morning at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dickey Malone, 65, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday (July 29, 2014) at Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Lincoln County and was employed at Goodman Manufacturing. Mr. Malone was a veteran of the United States Army. No services are planned at this time. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Teresa Gail Tipps Overton, 62, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday (July 29, 2014) at her residence. She was born on Jan. 22, 1952 in Ohio to the late Frank Tipps of Fayetteville and Mildred Cole Tipps of Decatur, who survives. In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughters, Dana Leigh Whitten of Huntsville, Ala., and Kelli Danielle Morrow and husband, Mike, of Fayetteville; grandsons, Joshua Lee Morrow of Reno, Nev., Noah Creighton Morrow of Fayetteville and Lucas Whitten; sisters, Jackie Branum and husband, Steve, of Nashville, Beverly Standridge and husband, Jim, of Decatur, Ala., Frankye Son and husband, Gary, of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at First Baptist Church. Berryhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Robert (Bob) Milton Pittenger, 77, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday morning (Aug. 4, 2014) in Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Pittenger was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late Claude F. and Mary Green Pittenger. He was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in Fayetteville and studied electrical engineering at U.T. Knoxville, worked for Chrysler for 34 years and was partner with his son, Larry Pittenger, in Aable Environmental and was a member of Park City Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jean Fowler Pittenger of Fayetteville; sons, Richard T. (Mary) Pittenger of Chesapeake, Va., Larry D. (Lucy) Pittenger of Murfreesboro, Jeffrey L. (Linda) Pittenger of Jacksonville, Fla., James R. Pittenger of Fayetteville, Jerry D. (Shawn) Pittenger of Gallatin; grandchildren, Erica (Jimmie) Edwards, Jon, Justin, Caleb, Conner and Morgan Pittenger; great-grandchildren, Travis and Zack Edwards; sister, Claudia Sandlin of Fayetteville; brothers, Eddie F. (Mary Ruth) Pittenger of Murfreesboro and Jerry R. (Judy) Pittenger of Fayetteville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pittenger was preceded in death by his brother, Kelly Pittenger. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Russell officiating. Burial will follow Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in Blue Springs Cemetery in Morgan County, Ala. Raymond Buford Stevenson, Jr., 87, of Frankewing, passed away Thursday (July 31, 2014) at Vanderbilt Medical Center. A native of Giles County, he was the son of the late Buford Stevenson, Sr., and Myrtle McCown Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson was a farmer, carpenter/woodworker and a member of the McBurg Methodist Church. He was very active with the McBurg Community Center and was a volunteer at Wright’s Cemetery. Survivors include his daughter, Betty Cochrane and husband, Jerry, of Hermitage; son, Terry Stevenson and wife, Joy, of Frankewing; grandchildren, Terry Lynn Stevenson of Columbus, Ga., and Kimberly Cochrane of Cresent Springs, Ky.; a sister, Ester Thornton of Savannah, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by eleven siblings. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Brown and Stan Stevenson officiating. Burial followed in Wright’s Cemetery beside his wife, Sarah Frances Stevenson, who passed away in 2007. The family requests memorials to the Bee Springs Cemetery Fund. Lilbern “June” Stone, Jr., also known as “Stoney”, 62, of Albion, Mich., passed away in his home on Wednesday (July 30, 2014) with his family by his side. He was born Sept. 3, 1951 in Fayetteville to Eleanor and Lilbern Stone, Sr. June was retired from the State of Michigan Department of Corrections after 33 years of service. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Tekiya Stone, Jasmine (Billy Jr.) Collins; sons, Tim and Tony (Kathy) Stone, Antonio Bean and Laquice McMillen; step-daughters, Amberleigh Smith, Anne and Katrina Conner; brother, Ray (Doris) Stone; and sisters, Jannie Stone and Jackie (Curtis) Collier. Special survivors also include a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a host of special spiritual brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Lilbern, Sr., and brother, Harvey “Denny” Stone. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 7, from 12 until 2 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.
