Mary E. Bishop. On the early afternoon of Saturday (July 5, 2014), God saw fit to call from labor Mary E. Bishop. She departed this life from the Center of Hospice in South Bend, Ind. She was born on Jan. 22, 1935 to the late Robert and Mable Brown. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Ranson Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg. While living in Fayetteville, she was an active member at St. Paul A.M.E Church. She was a registered nurse and worked at Lincoln County and Huntsville Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Celecia Brown of South Bend; a son, Wilbert M. Bishop, Jr., of South Bend; step-daughter, Ebony D. Bishop of Nashville; a sister, Pauline McClain of Nashville; a brother, Edward D. Brown of Nashville; a sister-in-law, Virginia Brown of Niles, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death are her two daughters, Wilma Jean Bishop Harley and Roslyn “Bonnie” Bishop; two sisters, Sadie Osborne Greer and Martha Jones; a brother, Robert “Bobby” Brown; and an ex-husband, Wilbert M. Bishop, Sr. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Belfast. Betty Jean Bradford, 83, of Taft, formerly of Vinemont, Ala., passed away Wednesday (July 9, 2014) at Boulevard Terrace Health Care in Murfreesboro. She was born July 11, 1930 to John Gordon and Bessie Frye Allred. Mrs. Bradford was a devoted wife of 64 years, a mother, homemaker and enjoyed working on the farm raising vegetables. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Bradford; son, Steve Bradford; sisters, Fannie Jones, Peggy Joyce Allred Linley; brothers, Hulon, Gordon, Jack, Ralph, James and Hugh Allred. Survivors include her son, John Bradford; daughters, Barbara Shelton and Sherry Lynn Bradford; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Graveside services were held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery, Vinemont, with Bro. Van Johnson officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at Boulevard Terrace for their love and care for Mrs. Bradford. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to local animal shelters. Dan Graham, 66, of Fayetteville, died Thursday (July 10, 2014) in Huntsville Hospital. A native of Big Sandy, he was the son of the late Ralph Sherman Graham and Louise Williams Graham, who survives. Mr. Graham was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired health inspector with the State of Tennessee, a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Honey Graham of Fayetteville; two sons, Dustin C. (Lindsay) Graham of Jackson, Clint Graham of Fayetteville; mother, Louise Williams Graham of Big Sandy; brother, Jim (Renee) Graham of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Brenda Honey (Melvin) McAlister of Fayetteville, Lucy Honey (Randy) Haynes of Nashville; grandchildren, Miles Graham of Harvest, Ala., Ceth Graham of Fayetteville, Nathan Graham of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy Graham officiating. Burial followed in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Big Sandy. Alberta Johnson, 91, of Ardmore, died Monday (July 7, 2014) at her home. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ardmore, Ala. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Louie Morris, Jr., 76, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday evening (July 12, 2014) at his residence. A native of Augusta, Ga., he was the son of the late Louie and Robbie Walton Morris, Sr. Mr. Morris was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Redstone Arsenal and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Mary Pierce Allen Morris of Fayetteville; daughters, Debra (Rhea) Morton of Rockvale, Suzanne (Max) Cook of Salt Lake City, Utah, Terry Marshall of Tacoma, Wash.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his sister, Naomi Erb, and one granddaughter. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 12 until 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Bert Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Margaret Marie Rolin, 82, of Toney, Ala., died Friday (July 11, 2014) at Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs, Miss. She lived in the Ardmore area most of her life and was a seamstress at Ardmore Industries. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Lance Travis, 67, of Arab, Ala., passed away Saturday (July 5, 2014) at his residence. Mr. Travis was born in Fayetteville and worked as an operator for Norton Industries before retiring.
