Wilson announces bid for Dist. 2
Catherine Leeann (Catie) Wilson announces her candidacy for county commissioner in District 2 in the Aug. 7 general election.
Wilson is a native of Lincoln County, having lived in District 2 on the family farm all of her life. She graduated from Lincoln County High School in 2009, Motlow Community College in 2011 and Middle Tennessee State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in business management.
Among her many honors are Miss Motlow, vice president of the Student Government Association at Motlow, and a member of the Presidential Student Leadership Institute. Wilson has been involved in many activities that she said would prepare her for an active role in pushing the county forward to meet the challenges of the future.
“As a member of the county commission and a citizen of Lincoln County, I would like to see jobs that would attract more of our young people to come back here to work,” she said. “We need to take advantage of our close proximity to Huntsville and advanced technology that is available. For some reason, Lincoln County has not been able to secure and attract new industry. As a commissioner, I would work toward seeking more jobs and making use of modern technology.
“As a commissioner in District 2, I would represent the people as I make decisions that reflect the best for the future of all Lincoln County,” Wilson continued. “Instead of leaving here as many young people do, I decided to come back to my home and make a difference. I would appreciate your vote and your confidence in my ability to represent you.”
