The 19th Annual Shadow Valley Gospel Music Festival will be held July 3, 4 and 5, at Shadow Valley, 54 Warden Road, Fayetteville. Some of the biggest names in gospel music will be performing each evening. Tickets are $15 each at the gate or $13 in advance. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Local outlets include Regions Bank in Fayetteville and Parks City. Attendees are invited to bring their lawn chairs as the concerts are outdoors. There will be concessions. The show on July 3 and 4 starts at 6 p.m., and the concert on July 5 begins at 5:30 p.m.
The Lincoln County Republican Party will meet Thursday, July 3, at 7 p.m. at the Fayetteville Municipal Building auditorium. Guest speakers are Steve Lane, who is seeking the U.S. Representative position for the 4th Congressional District, and Donna Orr Hargrove, who is seeking re-election to the Public Defender’s office of the 17th Judicial District in Tennessee.
A July 4th Welcome Home Event will be held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. On Friday, July 4, gates will open at 10 a.m., with an opening ceremony starting at 11 a.m. Live music will be performed by Thad & Company, Southern Express Band, The 5-0 Band, 4 Miles Gone, and featuring Brittany Spriggs. There will be food vendors providing a variety of flavors and a beverage trailer, along with other entertainment, such as bounce houses, super slide, horseshoe and corn hole tournaments, tug-of-war, roving entertainment, face painting and firework display. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids; kids ages 5 and under will be admitted free. All proceeds go to help local veterans. Blanche Community’s Freedom Festival will be held on Friday, July 4, at Blanche School from 4 p.m. until dark. Fireworks will be on display after dark. There will be live music, a patriotic musical, tractor and car show, door prizes, dunking booth, games, a train ride, obstacle course, puppets, crafts and hot dog eating contest and more. In addition, there will be concessions available with food, popcorn and snow cones.
Antique Farm Machinery Show, sponsored by Giles County Antique Power, will be held on Saturday, July 5, at Elkton City Park in Elkton. The show will feature Minneapolis Moline lawn tractors, all types of antique tractors, machinery and garden tractors and gasoline engines. Vintage cars and trucks are welcome. Vendors of arts and crafts and tractor parts are welcome. There is a $15 setup for flea market and $20 for food vendors. Primitive and electrical camping spots are available. Indoor restrooms and concessions are available all day. Events include parade of power, cross cut sawing, chain in box, pedal pull, farm safety, ladies skillet throw and slow tractor race. The Ninth Annual Dellrose Cross Tractor Drive is set for Aug. 30. The drive will leave the Dellrose Fire Department at 9 a.m. Cost is $15 per tractor and includes one meal. Additional riders must be on a trailer or carry all. Minimum of 12 miles per hour speed and drivers must be 16-years-old to drive. Weekly Saturday night dances are held at the American Legion Post 42, 2007 Wilson Parkway, from 7-10 p.m. The dance is open to the public, and the facility is a nonsmoking building, though a smoking area is provided outside. Country Roads Band plays a mix of country, country rock and classic rock and roll music. The cover charge is $5 per person. The kitchen grill is open for the sale of sandwiches, fries and soft drinks. The American Legion is a nonprofit organization, and proceeds from the dances helps in the funding for the aide to the veterans of Lincoln County.
Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center’s Senior Dance is held each Tuesday from 1 until 4 p.m. Cover charge is $3 per person. A live band is on hand to provide music. Bring a dish to pass or just come and relax, listen to music, dance, eat and enjoy. The Senior Citizens Center is located at 908 West Washington Street, Fayetteville.
