The 2014 4-H BB shooting team, led by coaches Robert Ellis, Daniel Vaughn and Darla Bonner, recently traveled to Dickson for the state BB shooting competition.

Each competitor shoots a muzzle-loaded single shot BB gun named the Daisy AVANTI Champion Model 499. It is billed as the most accurate BB gun in the world and is the only gun approved for the Daisy National 5-meter competition.

These three competitors received awards for their shooting expertise in the Champion of Champions match in state competition recently. Pictured are Lily Cowan, fifth place, Sean Rascoe, fourth place, and Carlee Cowan, third place.

During the match, each team shoots in four positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling, and is also scored on a safety exam in order to qualify for individual and team medals. The written safety test comprises a substantial percentage of each competitor’s final score.

This year there were 128 5-meter match competitors at the state competition, with 21 of those being from Fayetteville.
