LCHS beat Franklin County, Hazel Green in tennis action

Lincoln County High School’s tennis team took both the boys’ and girls’ district action at home last week, defeating Franklin County.

The Falcons finished with the win, 6-1.

In the singles action, Daniel Selfridge won at the one, 8-2; Matthew Posey won the two, 8-2; Barrett Wright won, 8-4, at the three; Patrick Scott won the four, 8-0; Justin Plunkett won, 8-1, at the five.

In doubles play, Trey Wetjen/Brian Shouse won 8-6, and Cole Beddingfield/Cody Cantrell lost 8-3

The Lady Falcons took the win, 7-1

At the one, Lauren Gower took the win, 8-0; Chelsi Wheat won at the two, 8-0; Ashley Atkinson won, 8-0, at the three; at the four, Allie Bridge won, 8-2; Jasmine Bello won the five, 8-4.

In doubles action, Haylee McGee/Bella Beddingfield won, 9-7; Maranda Richards/Sarah Hall lost, 8-1; and Jordyn Atkinson/Jordan Dempsey won, 8-3.

Earlier in the week, Lincoln County traveled to Hazel Green for an out-of-district match. The girls won, 7-3, and the boys won, 6-3.

For their next action, LCHS was to have traveled to Shelbyville on Monday, then hosted Coffee County on Tuesday. Thursday, the team travels to Lawrence County for their final action of the regular season. Match times are at 4 p.m.
