Charles E. Amos, 93, of Fayetteville, died Monday (March 12, 2012) at Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late Dillard and Sarah Dubois Amos. He was a missile model maker for Redstone Arsenal, a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Prospect Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Mr. Amos was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Louella Davis Amos; grandson, Zach Amos; seven brothers; and one sister. Survivors include daughters, Mary (David) Cobb of Meridianville, Ala., Martha (Lyle) Tipton of Fayetteville; sons, John (Margarete) Amos of Fayetteville, David (Connie) Amos of Petersburg; half-sister, Wanda Spradlin of Saraland, Ala; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Barbara Bean, 65, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday (March 13, 2012) at her residence. Mrs. Bean was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late Robert O. and Jimmie Beatrice Stone Jones. She was a cook and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by husband, Wilbert Bean of Fayetteville; daughter, Regina Ramsey Tate of Murfreesboro; sons, Vernal Ramsey, Jimmie Ramsey, both of Fayetteville; sister, Judith Louise Jones of LaVergne; brothers, William D. Vennie Elizabeth Boaz, 88, of Taft, died Monday (March 19, 2012) at Donalson Care Center. She was a native of Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Robert Henry and Allie Swinford White. Mrs. Boaz was a homemaker and a member of the Kirkland Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Freddy Mark Boaz (Debbie) of Taft; daughter, Joan Boaz Reynolds (Terry) of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Fred Alan Boaz of Franklin, Shena Pitts Jeans of Kelso, Adela Reynolds of Huntsville and Alyssa Reynolds of Huntsville; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Neyland Jeans. David Nelson Bowman, 49, of Taft, died Wednesday afternoon (March 7, 2012). A native of Wyandotte, Mich., he was the son of James Nelson and Martha Ann McAlister Bowman, and a truck driver for Titan Truck Lines. Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his infant brother, Jeff Bowman, and his first wife, Tammy Bowman. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Yvette Bowman, of Taft; children, Melissa Bowman of Taft, Amanda Palmer Jolly and husband, Cody, D.J. Edwin Lewis (Punkin) Cannon, 70, of Flintville, died Sunday morning (March 18, 2012). He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Fred and Victoria Sisk Cannon. Mr. Cannon retired from Lee Manufacturing and was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ Church. Survivors include his daughter, Vickie Jane (Kelly) Williams of Cowan; son, Timothy Scott Cannon (Jennifer) of Strawberry Plains; brother, Billy Joe Cannon (Shirley) of Belleville; grandchildren, Latasha Wilson of Fayetteville, Eddie-Wayne Hayes Cannon (Chrissa) of Norfolk, Va., Noah Dayne Cannon of Strawberry Plains; special friend, Kathy Patterson (Ronnie) of Fayetteville; and great-granddaughter, Macie Jane Jett of Fayetteville. Sarah Louise Gardner, 84, of Elora, died Thursday (March 15, 2012) at Golden Living Center Mountainview in Winchester. She was born Jan. 27, 1928 in Madison County, Ala., the daughter of the late Ernest and Savella Bell (Hill) White. Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Gardner Sr.; brothers, Bud and Junior White; and daughter, Ina Faye Gardner. Kenneth Glover, 75, of Lebanon, died Tuesday (March 13, 2012) at his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1937, in Smith County, the son of Daisy Watson Glover Ramsey of Lafayette and the late Leon Glover. He was a 1954 graduate of Gordonsville High School and was in the Tennessee National Guard. He worked for 30 years for Sammons Pennington Vending in Nashville. He also started the Ken Glover Band. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a cousin, Florence Ray West, and a special aunt, Vallie Glover. Wayne Martin Hiebert, Sr., 81, of Prospect, died Tuesday (March 13, 2012) at Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville. He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Berrian Springs, Mich., to parents Martin Hiebert and Auda Boorem Hiebert, later of Brooksville, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Ligia Saravia Hiebert; his ex-wife, Bette Lashley Johnson; his children, Martha Bush of Palmer, Alaska, Wayne Martin Hiebert, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Aracely Turcios Hiebert of Fayetteville, Kaysey Hasslock of Covington, La., Oran Hiebert of Athens, Ala., Linda Hiebert Ashby of Toney, Ala.; his grandchildren, Carmen Hiebert Rathbun, Cynthia A. Hiebert, Cassidy L. McLoughlin, William M. Hiebert, Eli O. Hiebert, Tristan W. Ashby, Laurel C. Ashby; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Minon Hiebert Hamm of Maryville; and his granddaughter, Rhaen Lynn Hiebert. Edna Jones, 87, of Fayetteville, died Friday (March 16, 2012) at Lincoln Medical Center. Mrs. Jones was a native of Madison County, Ala., the daughter of the late John and Susie Moore Holder. She was a nurse’s aide at the Lincoln County Nursing Home and a member of the Vanntown Church of Jesus. James Edward Keathley, 81, a resident of Fayetteville and a former resident of White County, passed away Wednesday (March 14, 2012). He was born Oct. 21, 1930, in the Peeled Chestnut community of White County, the son of the late James and Verta Hutchings Keathley. After graduation from White County High School, he moved to Detroit and worked for General Motors. After retiring, he moved closer to family in Tennessee. He was preceded in death by wives, Jessie Lotte and Joyce Winn, daughter, Sharon Bryant, and brother, Charles Keathley. Lillian Gertrude Ragan, 81, of Fayetteville, died Saturday (March 17, 2012) at Donalson Care Center. Mrs. Ragan was a native of Madison County, Ala., the daughter of the late William L. and Nellie O. Billions Jones. She was employed by Serbin and also a door greeter for Wal-Mart. She enjoyed canning and collecting coffee cups from different places. Garry Gordon Reavis, 65, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday (March 6, 2012) at his residence. He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Leslie Gordon Reavis and Sybil Leatherwood Reavis Whitaker, who survives. Mr. Reavis was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Special Forces during the Vietnam War. He was a former employee of the Huntsville Performance Center and Garry Reavis Engines where he was a race engine manufacturer. He was a member of the Lincoln Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife of forty-five years, Linda Barnes Reavis; brother, Terry Reavis and wife, Bonnie; and nieces, Nicole and Allison Reavis, all of Fayetteville. Evelyn A. Schloss, 85, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday (March 14, 2012) at the Lincoln Medical Center. A native of Pennsylvania, she was an IRS worker. John Lawson Sherrell Jr., 92, died at Kirby Pines Nursing Home in Memphis on Thursday (March 8, 2012). Mr. Sherrell was born in Dellrose on Aug. 24, 1919, graduated from high school in Fayetteville and then went on to the University of Tennessee to study agriculture. His studies were interrupted when he was drafted into the Army Signal Corp as a radio repairman. After his discharge, he earned his electrical engineering degree at Vanderbilt University. It was there in Nashville that he met Ellen Taylor, and they were married for 54 years prior to her death in 2001. Mr. and Mrs. Sherrell were charter members of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an avid horse enthusiast and gardener after he retired from his job at Redstone Arsenal in 1977. He was known for his love of family, good food and a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his son, Daniel Lawson Sherrell and wife, Linda, of Memphis and his daughter, Donna Sherrell Martin and husband, Barry, of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Robert Lawson Sherrell and wife, Kristi, David Jeffrey Sherrell and wife, Sonya, and Stephanie Martin Pratt and husband, Charles; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Jacqueline and Matthew Sherrell. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Ala., with the Rev. Charles Gattis officiating.
