Tigers impress with hoops stats

Fayetteville High School’s Tiger basketball team wrapped up its third year with an impressive 19-11 overall record.

The Tigers finished third in the District 9-A regular season and finished as runner-up in the district tournament.

Nick Hopkins and James Keith were named to the All-District and All-Tournament teams. Aaron Parks received All-Tournament honors.

In the first half of the season, sophomore Nick Hopkins and junior James Keith reached the 1,000 career points marks. Hopkins finished with 1,299 by year’s end. Keith reached 1,164 points.

Fayetteville put together a year of impressive statistics.

The Tigers averaged 65.6 points per game and were deadly from the arch, shooing a team average of 39 percent. From the paint, Fayetteville shot 53 percent.

Hopkins set the pace, scoring 571 points; Keith had 391; Aaron Parks, 355; Michael Parks, 328; and Cain McWilliams scored 109.

Michael Parks led from long range, hitting 50 of 117 attempts for 43 percent. Aaron Parks was 44 of 108 for 41 percent. Nick Hopkins was 44 of 140 for 31 percent.

Hopkins led in the paint, hitting 170 of 297 attempts for 57 percent, while Keith hit on 139 of 250 attempts for 56 percent; Cain McWilliams, 47 of 80 for 59 percent; Aaron Parks, 82 of 161 for 51 percent; Michael Parks, 74 of 150 for 49 percent.

As a team, the Tigers shot 70 percent from the line. Hopkins went 99 of 119 attempts for 83 percent; Keith, 92 of 126 for 73 percent; and Aaron Parks, 59-83 for 71 percent.

Keith led on the boards with 181 rebounds followed by Hopkins with 136; Aaron Parks, 114; and Cain McWilliams with 109.
