Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater (FPCT) announces Summer Academy Class Registration is now open!
Students of all ages will enjoy summer theatrical fun as Fantasy offers week-long classes in a variety of theater arts. In addition to a wide variety of classes in drama, musical theater singing and dance, playwriting, sewing and improv, we will feature our interactive parent-toddler class Music ’n Motion.
Other highlights for this summer are:
P is for Princess (Purple, Pink and Pretending)
A positively delightful week of pretend balls, magical gardens, pretty dresses, and grand entrances–not to mention some girlie -girl crafts! Join the party and make-believe. For ages 5-6 yrs July 7-11
Super Heroes Arise!
Act out some famous hero roles and make your own Super Hero costumes in this action packed drama class. For ages 7-8 yrs June 9-13
They’re Here!!! Learn basic acting and writing skills as you create your own zombie character in your original zombie play. Basic Special Effects Makeup will also be a part of creating your character. For ages 12-16 yrs July 7-11
From old age faces to character faces to black eyes and scars, students are sure to have loads of fun learning the basics of stage makeup in this 1 ½ hour class for ages 12-Adult. Both boys and girls will get a kick out of creating different characters through the use of stage makeup. They may never have to buy Halloween masks again once they learn the secrets of character and animal makeup. Adults will learn skills that they can use in any performance venue. Price includes all supplies. For ages 12-18 yrs July 7 -11 and Adult Evening Class ages 16 yrs and up July 7-11
Puppets come alive in this class filled with a little history, theater games and creativity. Your child will build two puppets and perform a show at the end of the week. For ages 7-10 July 7-11
Fantasy Playhouse Shakespeare Project (New Workshop)
Youth ages 11-18 are invited to be part of this unique summer project in Shakespeare. Day-long workshops, Monday thru Friday will include storytelling and improvisation, classical form, rhythm, history, creative writing and stage combat. Students will find confident expression whether new to Shakespeare or already well-versed and will progress towards a culminating presentation given for families and the community. Taught by author and teaching artist, Susan Guthrie July 21-25.
Academy Director Karen Alexander is particularly proud of the variety of classes offered during the 2014 Summer Schedule, stating: “Because we offer over 30 classes, children can take several different types of performing arts classes during the summer and capture a wide variety of experience in the areas that interest them.”
Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater Academy serves children ages 3-18 from the Huntsville public, private and home school sectors. FPCT Academy classes provide over 700 educational theater arts opportunities year round, ranging from early music and creative play to musical theater and advanced acting. Theater arts education is at the core of our mission and our Executive Director currently sits on the Alabama Alliance for Arts Education Task Force.
