Clint Alexander, head coach of Woodberry Forest School’s Tiger football team, is experiencing a great deal of success, according to his dad, Dale Alexander who lives in the Petersburg area of Lincoln County.
“Clint has been the head coach there for seven or eight years,” said his father, noting that his grandson, Ryan, also works at the private high school for boys in Woodberry Forest, Va., as offensive coach. “All the big colleges – Notre Dame, Auburn, and Stanford – all want first pick of his kids.”
Ranked in the top three private schools in Virginia, the Tigers’ season is always measured by its last game of the season when they face their archrivals, Episcopal High School. This past season, Woodberry Forest defeated Episcopal for the sixth straight year. The final score was 56-13 in favor of the Tigers.
Dale had a chance to witness that game and later meet the young men who comprise his son’s team.
“That was a great experience,” he said. “I had at least 20 of the parents come up to me afterward and thank me for my son coaching them and telling me how the boys learn more about being men from playing football under Clint … It was really something else, and it just touched me, you know.”
