Backstage --The Backstage Performing Arts Dance Company members became stars of their own Disney show in October when they entertained visitors at Walt Disney World Resort and took part in Disney’s Broadway Magic Workshop.

Dance groups, choirs, ensembles and marching bands from around the world apply to perform each year as part of Disney Performing Arts at both the Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resorts. Once selected, they are given the opportunity to perform at the resort for an international audience of theme park guests.

The BPA Company spent four months learning, rehearsing and perfecting six numbers to incorporate into a 25-minute show. Upon arrival at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., BPA students participated in a simulated Disney audition and rehearsal of a Disney show. This private workshop was taught by a professional Disney dancer and included lots of “magical” surprises!

BPA Rehearsal --The following day, BPA students were treated like cast members for the day. They were taken to the backstage area to go through tech and warm-ups and experience a day just like the Disney Performers do each time they perform on stage. The Backstage Performing Arts Company shined before an international audience as they performed their very own show at the Waterside amphitheater at Downtown Disney area.

Backstage Performing Arts is owned and operated by Melvie Myrick. Jordan Allen directs the BPA Company. Members and those included in the Disney workshop/performance are Alana Rutledge, Reagan Mitchell, Amelia Cash, Libby Quick, Abigail Sink, Emma Fraley, Julia Cox, Brianna Tate, Allie Groce, Ashlee Jean, Brylea Pruett, Gracie Schutt, Felicity Sink, Krystal Gioia and Peyton Jones.

This was an exciting and wonderful learning experience, said Myrick. And of course, the group rewarded themselves by enjoying the thrilling and magical Walt Disney World.
