Donal N. Bean, age 73, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014. Mr. Bean is survived by his wife, Peggy Bean; daughters, Jackie (William) Mustin, Cheryl Alexander, Angela Baker, and Coralette Gordon; sons, Todd (Latisa) Bean, Anthony (Ann), and Donald (Pamela) Bailey; brothers, Athen (Barbara), George, Robert (Rita), Larry, Walter (Geri), and Mark (Karen) Bean. Family visitation for Mr. Bean will be Saturday, Feb. 15, 6-8 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church, 521 College Street, Fayetteville. Funeral service will be Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m., also at St. Paul AME Church. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery. Donnie Wayne Clark, 42, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at Lincoln Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Agena Goolsby Clark of Fayetteville, and mother, Wanda Clark Pullen of Fayetteville. No services are planned. Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Lawrence Harold Clem, 85, of Suwanee, Ga., died Tuesday (Feb. 4, 2014) at Cumming Manor in Cumming, Ga. Graveside services were held Saturday afternoon at Sylone Cemetery, Elkmont, Ala., with Bro. Rex Kilpatrick officiating. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Tammy Lyell Hanshaw, 55, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at her residence. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Herman and Patricia Gail Gray Lyell. She retired after 35 years as an LPN for the Lincoln County Health Systems and was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Jessica Bates and husband, David, of Fayetteville and Ashley Roland of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Jonathan Bates, Abby Midgett, Sarah Bates, Lexie Roland, Jayden Pullen and Levi Bates; sisters, Sandy Lancaster and husband, Jerry (Weasel), of Fayetteville, Tera Simmons of Fayetteville; brothers, Greg Lyell and wife, Betty, of Mulberry, Wayne Lyell of Fayetteville, Chris Lyell and wife, Melanie, of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Bates officiating. Burial followed in Flintville Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Herman “Tunk” Holman, 79, of Ardmore, Ala., died Friday (Feb. 7, 2014) at his home. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bros. Alan Hughes and Chris Bolt officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Virginia Crabtree Kent, 85, of Flintville, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2014) at her residence. She was a native of Lincoln County and a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Janie Kent and Nellie Kent, both of Columbia; six sons, Bob Kent of Flintville, Freddie Kent of Mulberry, J.C. Kent of Flintville, Jimmy Kent of Lynchburg, John Kent of Mulberry and Robert Kent of Fayetteville; one sister, Mary Ellen Metcalf of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mulberry Cemetery with Bro. James Strope officiating. Burial will follow beside her husband, John Wilson Kent, who passed away in 1989. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Robert Dean “Rab” Shelton, 72, of Ardmore, Ala., died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bros. Steve Hargrove and Drew Hogan officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery. Diane Simmons, 66, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at her residence. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Homer and Clair Marie Towry Roland. Mrs. Simmons was an owner/operator of Carpet Liquidators, a home decorator and former emergency medical technician at the Mayo Clinic. Survivors include her husband, Fonnie Ray Simmons of Fayetteville; two sons, Tracy (Teresa) Simmons and Mark (Sue) Simmons, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Freddie Arnold, Lance Simmons, Matt Percy, Hannah Simmons, Leslie Reese, Joe Bee Croft; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Zoey and Landon; one brother, Marvin (Diane) Roland; one sister, Barbara Roland; and sister-in-law, Sandra Faye Lincoln. Memorial services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Thomas Hospital. Norman Zeigler, 70, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday (Feb. 3, 2014) at Donalson Care Center. He was a native of Adrian, Mich., and the son of the late Ralph and Lois Barker Zeigler. He was an engineer for a manufacturing company and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Services will be conducted at a later date. Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
