Beginner Beekeeping class set for March

Beginners Beekeeping Class will be held on four nights: Monday, March 3; Tuesday, March 4; Thursday, March 6; and Friday, March 7.

Classes will be held from 7 until 9 p.m. each evening at Shelbyville Farm Bureau Building, located at 323 Bethany Lane.

The Duck River Beekeepers’ Association is sponsoring the event. The group meets regularly the first Tuesday of each month from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Shelbyville Farm Bureau Building.

Registration fee for the class is $40. Included in the cost of registration is the book “Beekeeping in Tennessee”. There will be refreshments each night.

Three Hive Starter Kits, valued at $150 each, will be given away in a drawing on the final night. Winners must attend all four classes, join the Duck River Beekeepers’ Association for two years ($26 total) and purchase bees for the hive, approximately $125. Current members are not eligible unless they have not yet started beekeeping.

Come early on Monday night before 7 p.m. to complete registration.
