Ricky Eckstein, 67, of Ardmore, Ala., died Sunday (Feb. 2, 2014) at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of Sweet Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bro. Steve Hargrove officiating. Interment will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Ala. Doris Elizabeth Brown Gey, 79, of Elkmont, Ala., died Monday (Jan. 27, 2014) at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Ala. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bro. Brent Hawkins officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery. Hubert Oliver Haney, 79, of Elkmont, Ala., died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2014) at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville, Ala. Funeral services were held Thursday at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bro. Tony Boyles, Jimmy Haney and Bro. Hubert Sims officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Ala. Jerry W. Neal, 51, of Belvidere, passed away Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014). A native of Franklin County, he was a 1980 graduate of Franklin County High School. He was employed by Yates Services and worked as an electrician at Nissan in Decherd. He was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He raised beef cattle and loved to fish. His family will best remember him as a loving father and grandfather who absolutely adored his grandson, Dalton. Mr. Neal is survived by his wife of 26 years, Bessie Jane Reed Neal of Belvidere; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica LaShae and Matthew Roberts of Ft. Hood, Texas; sons Jonathan, Joseph and Jacob Neal, all of Belvidere; mother and father, James Dale Neal and Margaret Smith Neal of Belvidere; brothers, Terry Ray (Linda) Neal of Belvidere, Kerry Dale Neal of Murfreesboro and John Ben (Angela) Neal of Belvidere; grandson, Dalton Douglas Roberts of Ft. Hood; nieces, Anastasia and Victoria Neal; nephews, Terry J. “TJ”, Derrick and Vinson Neal; mother and father-in law, James E. and Lillie Mae Reed of Cowan. The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. with Bro. John Ben Neal officiating. Diane Clark Pruitt, 60, of Fayetteville, died Monday afternoon (Jan. 13, 2014) in the comfort of her home. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Everett Clark and Jean Parker Clark, who survives. Mrs. Pruitt was a homemaker and a member of the McBurg Church of Christ. She is survived by her mother, Jean Clark; her loving husband of 42 years, Walter Ray Pruitt; son, Ray (Mireille) Pruitt of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughter, Michelle (Danny) Johnson of Pulaski; and sister, Brenda (Don) Fairbanks of Decatur, Ala, six grandchildren, Brittney and Krissy Pruitt, Dylan and Leah McAfee, Nathan and Macey Johnson; along with a niece, Stephanie Westbrook; and many friends. Laura Simmons Taylor, 77, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2014) at her residence. She was born on Nov. 11, 1936, in Lincoln County to the late James Edgar and Susie R. Simmons. Mrs. Taylor worked as a seamstress at Serbin Manufacturing and was a member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Angelia Renee Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Thomas A. Taylor; sisters, Annie Faye Taylor and Mattie Kate Beverly; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Johnson and Van Johnson officiating. Shirley Thompson, 79, of Kelso, passed away Tuesday night (Jan. 28, 2014) in Donalson Care Center. A native of Fayetteville, Ark., Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of the late Walker and Pearl Raulston Hawkins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Winchester. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Thompson of Kelso; brothers and sisters, Marjorie Bunce, Glen Hawkins and Bills Hawkins, Jr., all of Fayetteville, N.C., Anna Lee Caulder of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
