Indoor motocross racing coming to Calsonic Arena
Indoor Motocross racing is coming to The Calsonic Arena on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25.
This event will be the 19th annual edition of the Tennessee Indoor Motocross Championship at the Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville.
Dozers and loaders are moving and shaping the arena floor to build the massive jumps, whoops and turns. A professional starting gate will be brought in that will start the riders, 15 at a time, in each of their races. Pro bikes and ATVs will be racing both days along with 33 different classes of amateurs.
The event will be rounds number 9 and 10 of the FMF Indoor Winter Series, which is in its 22nd season. Coming into the weekend is Augusta, Georgia’s Robbie Horton, who is leading the points in both the 250 and 450 pro-classes. North Carolina’s Jacob Hayes is second in the 250 pro class, and South Carolina’s Jesse Cuzbyt is running second in the 450 pro class. The pros will be racing for $10,000 purse.
The Women’s class is a close battle for championship. Elizabethtown, Kentucky’s Allison King is leading North Carolina rider Kerstin Prante. The ATV pro class is an even tighter battle with Frenchburg, Kentucky’s Casey Martin leading Bulls Gap and Tennessee’s Slias Lamons by one point. There will be many riders from the Middle Tennessee area racing along with the riders coming in from seven another states. The event will be paying double points for the riders who are coming for the championship titles.
The event is open to all riders — bikes and ATVs. It’s the only indoor motocross race that will be coming to the Calsonic Arena this year, and the LAST Indoor motocross race that will be coming to the Calsonic arena this year, and the last Indoor Motocross in the Middle Tennessee area this season.
Make plans to attend this exciting motorsports event. Come as a racer and be part of the show or come and be a spectator. Amateur Practice is at 1:30 on Friday, followed by the qualifiers. The doors open for spectators at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday Jan. 24-25, with racing at 6:30 p.m. both days.
