Huntsville men face theft charge

Two Huntsville men were charged with theft following alleged theft of a television set from a local store last Monday afternoon.

According to a police report, two men walked into CVS Pharmacy on Huntsville Highway and brazenly picked up an HD TV and walked out of the store without paying. A video captured the activity, and a description of the men and their truck was given to Lt. James Parkerson of the Fayetteville Police Department.

As the men headed south, Sgt. Billy Brazier made contact with the men at Tractor Supply Co. The television was in the truck, according to the police report.

The two men were placed under arrest and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. A third individual was in the vehicle, but did not go into CVS.

Charged were Melvin Lamar Baker, 26, 3606 Timbercrest Drive, Huntsville, Ala., and Melvin Brown Harris, 57, 3201 Overhill Street, Huntsville. Both men were charged with theft under $500. Baker was released on $1,000 bond, and Harris was held on $1,000 bond.
