Word from the Library … Library preps for Gala
Happy New Year from all of us here at the public library! We would like to take a moment to say thank you to our wonderful community for all your support and patronage – you have helped us make 2013 a wonderfully successful year!
We would also like to thank The Times, FPU and WYTM/WEKR for all your support in promoting our programs. Without our local partners, we would not be able to keep the community so well informed on what is happening at the library. I cannot express our deepest appreciation and our great excitement for the coming year!
We wrapped up our December activities with a holiday concert jointly performed by our own Caitlin VanKeuren and Dr. Melody Ng’s students from University of Alabama in Huntsville. We had a wonderful crowd and the music was delightful. We hope to present more of these events in the coming year.
As for January, the library is taking the month to perform a thorough inventory of our collection. So, there will be no special events except for the Friends of the Library’s annual Winter Gala on Jan. 25. Story Times, tutoring services and our regularly scheduled activities will continue as scheduled, but we will not have any additional parties or events this month.
On Feb. 1 we will get things rolling again with our Cosplay/Anime party from 6-9 p.m. We will also host a folk music program for kids on Feb. 26, so after one month’s hiatus, we will be rocking and rolling again with an exciting lineup of activities all year long!
Beginning in February we will also begin holding monthly computer classes with both basic skills and special topics, as well as monthly READS tutorial for various devices. So, stay tuned and roll with us through our one-month of collection maintenance and you won’t be sorry!
