Vera Brooks, an associate professor of business at Motlow College, was recently presented the 2013 Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year Award by the Southern Business Education Association.
The award was presented to Brooks when she attended the SBEA convention held in Williamsburg, Va. The award exemplifies Brooks’ contribution and great understanding in the field of business education.
Brooks was chosen for the award out of a group of nominees from 12 southern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
Surprise was the primary emotion Brooks felt when she learned she would be the recipient of the award.
“I’m very honored to have received this award,” Brooks said. “In the profession of teaching business education, I never thought that I would be a recipient of this prestigious award.”
Brooks has received multiple honors and awards recently. She received the Teacher of the Year Award in 2012 from the Tennessee Business Education Association, and she was also included in Covington’s Who’s Who in Education and Biltmore’s Who’s Who in North America in 2012 and 2013, respectively Brooks is also active in civic and church activities in her community.
