Edna F. Amos, 79, of Elora, died Thursday evening (Nov. 28, 2013) in Huntsville Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Amos was a native of Madison County, Ala., the daughter of the late Roy and Sadie Cantrell Fenn. She was retired from NASA and a member of the Oakley Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Amos of Elora; daughters, Carol Brothers and husband, Andy, of Chapel Hill, Brenda Showalter and husband, Michael, Betty Amos; son, Charlie Amos and wife, April, all of Elora; grandchildren, Cortney Tankersley and husband, James, Rex Brothers, Hunter Brothers, Amanda Stewart and husband, Lee, Matthew King and wife, Jillian, Forrest King, Clay Gill, Jessica Tittsworth, Brandon Amos, Dalton Amos; great-grandchildren, Colman Brothers, Preston Stewart, Jackson Stewart, Easton Stewart; sisters, Estelle Howard of Elora, Pauline Craft of Huntsville, Ala., Nellie Jacks of Elora, Doris Carpenter of Gulf Shores, Ala.; and brother, James Fenn of Huntsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Ozell Harris and Helen Jett. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Oakley Baptist Church in New Market, Ala., with the Rev. Charlie Hammons officiating. Burial followed in Elora Cemetery. Jonell Campbell, 84, a resident of Ardmore and native of Blanche, died Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2013) at Ardmore Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ardmore. Funeral services were held Saturday at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Derrick Moose officiating. Interment was in New Grove Cemetery, Blanche. Kelly Rutledge Cole, 51, of New Market, Ala., passed away Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2013) at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Cole is survived by her husband, Gary V. Cole of New Market; parents, Tommy and Charlene Rutledge of Fayetteville; sister, Shannon Bradford and husband, Jeff Bradford, of Fayetteville; nieces and nephews, Bailie Bradford, Landon Bradford, Adrienne Bradford, Ashlee Fugate and Patrick Bradford, all of Fayetteville. Kelly was a beloved wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She was born in Huntsville, Ala. Kelly graduated from Bolivar Central High School in Bolivar and from Jackson State University in Jackson. Memorial services were held Wednesday at Berryhill Funeral Home, Huntsville, Ala., with Pastor Don Gray officiating. The family suggests donations to the Huntsville Humane Society in Kelly’s name.

James Damron, 93, of Huntland, died Monday (Nov. 25, 2013) at his residence. He was a veteran of WWII and was proud to have served as Huntland’s mayor for several years. He loved raising cattle and being out on the farm. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianna Stovall Damron; parents, Charles Fred Damron and Bettie Jane Smith Damron; brother, Charles Damron; and sister, Freddelene Ruch. He is survived by his brother, Alwayne Damron of Huntland; nephew, Gary Damron; nieces, Betty Stewart, Billie Gay Smith, Cindy Von Halle and Joe Beth Damron; and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Bob Salmon officiating. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Maggie “Mama” Dee Turner Frey, 88, of Ardmore, Ala., died Saturday (Nov. 23, 2013) at her home. Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Elkton Cemetery in Elkton. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Joy J. Gleghorn, 70, of Fayetteville, died Thursday morning (Nov. 28, 2013) at her residence. Mrs. Gleghorn was a native of Lincoln County, daughter of the late Dorval and Carline George Jean. She was a homemaker and life-long member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gleghorn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as an avid gardener, amazing cook and a dedicated Auburn fan. Survivors include her husband, Charles Gleghorn of Fayetteville; son, Carl Gleghorn and wife, Becky; daughter, Gay Dempsey and husband, Michael, all of Petersburg; grandchildren, Conner Dempsey, Jordan Dempsey, Evan Gleghorn, Taylor Gleghorn, Carter Gleghorn, Makena Dempsey and Bailey Gleghorn; and sister, Dorvalyn Jean of Birmingham, Ala. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Allen Black and Tommy Ward officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Roy Bernard Harris, II, 54, of Fayetteville, died Sunday (Nov. 24, 2013) at his residence. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Roy Bernard and Golda Roper Harris, Sr. Mr. Harris was a stock broker and a Christian. Survivors include a sister, Lisa Harris Atlinger of Michigan; uncle, Harold Harris of Ohio; aunt, Phyllis Harris Kapps of Kentucky; uncle, Joe Roper (Allene) of Cash Point; and 23 cousins. Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside service was conducted Monday afternoon at Malone Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to the Malone Cemetery. Lindel Daulton Mitchell, 83, of Frankewing, died Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2013) in Donalson Care Center. He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late James Clyde and Clara Harrison Mitchell. He was a retired truck driver for the Lincoln Paving Company, a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ann Hill Mitchell of Frankewing; daughters, Lynnita Taylor and husband, Jerry, of Frankewing, Shelia Stubblefield of Frankewing; four sons, Daulton Wayne Mitchell of Fayetteville, Carlos Wade Mitchell of Frankewing, Roger Mitchell of Frankewing, Keith Mitchell of McBurg; three step-sons, David Leamon Mitchell and wife, Barbara, of Fayetteville, Tony Randall Mitchell and wife, Debbie, of Flintville, John Morgan Mitchell and wife, Robbie; brother, Harold Lee Mitchell and wife, Edith, of Elora; 10 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. James (Jimmy) Osborne, 85, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2013) in Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Elora and the son of the late Fred and Leona Dodson Osborne. He served in the Army 82nd and the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. He attended the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Mr. Osborne was a retired operating engineer for Local 150, retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after 25 years and a former business owner. Upon retirement, he returned to his home in Tennessee. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeannette Watson Osborne of Fayetteville; seven children, Kathi Hutnik and husband, James, of Chicago Heights, Ill., Jana Range and husband, Bill, of Waterloo, Ill., Terri Falletti and husband, Dennis, of Somonauk, Ill., Robin Osborne-Grue and husband, Dave, of Castle Rock, Colo., Lisa Marthaler and husband, Ed, of Homewood, Ill., Fred Osborne of Fayetteville, Jimmy Osborne, Jr., and wife, Sonja, of Hazel Green, Ala.; 25 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Billy Donald Pigg, 81, of Petersburg, died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2013) in Maury Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Lincoln County and son of the late J.D. and Wilma Sowell Pigg. He was retired from Life Investors Insurance Company as regional vice president. He was a member of the Cane Creek Church of Christ where he served as an elder and song leader. Mr. Pigg was well known throughout this area as a song leader for gospel meetings. In addition to his parents, one brother, Joe Pigg, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Jo Murriel Cashion Pigg of Petersburg; three daughters, Marilyn (Mike) Boyette of Brentwood, Donna (Ellis) Pinkston of Petersburg and Lisa Pigg of Nashville; one son, Larry Donald Pigg of Smyrna; one grandson, Jeremy Boyette; and three granddaughters, Amanda (Jim) Burch, Autumn (Alex) Berlin and Jennifer Boyette; three great-grandchildren, Bauer and Skyler Burch and Ava Berlin; two sisters, Shirley (Jim) Biffle of Donelson and Nancy Derryberry of Lewisburg; two brothers, Charles (Nancy) Pigg of Murfreesboro and Gary (Annette) Pigg of Wartrace; one sister-in-law, Deane Pigg of Brentwood; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Westvue Church of Christ with burial to follow in Talley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Boyette, Ellis Pinkston, Alex Berlin, Jim Burch, Jeremy Boyette and Danny Derryberry. Jimmy K. Schmidt, 42, of Flintville, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2013) at Lincoln Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on March 25, 1971, was employed by D&J Farms as a truck driver and was a member of Elora Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery. Elsie Seagle, 82, of Elora, died Saturday morning (Nov. 30, 2013) at her residence. Mrs. Seagle was a native of Illinois, the daughter of the late Aaron and Floye Riddle. She worked in the purchasing office of the Anderson Company in Gary, Ind. Survivors include her son, Kent Seagle; daughter, Kendra Lines; grandchildren, Marshall Lines, Amanda Lines, Kimberly Dowdy; brothers, Aaron Riddle, Bob Riddle; sisters, Mary Martin and Susan Seagle. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Seagle, in 2006. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Marsha P. Shutt, originally of Lincoln County, passed away Saturday morning (Nov. 30, 2013) at Alive Hospice in Nashville after a six-month battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Askins and Evelyn Pitcock. She is survived by her son, Timothy Turpen, his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Lena, who reside in West Palm Beach, Fla. Also, she is survived by her brother, Stan Pitcock, his wife, Emily, and her sister, Pam Crabtree, and her husband, Bill. Arrangements are being handled by Cremation and Funeral Services of Nashville. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Fifty Forward, where Marsha worked in Nashville, or Alive Hospice.

Robert “Robby” Thomas Thornton, 33, of Hazel Green, Ala., died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2013) at his residence. He was born in Madison County, Ala., on Dec. 5, 1979 to the late Robert A. Thornton and Judy Moore Young, who survives. He was a painter and was of the Full Gospel faith. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Clara Moore, Brownie and Pauline Thornton, L.E. and Leona Young. Mr. Thornton is survived by parents, Judy and Stephen Young of Hazel Green; sisters, Dana Phillips and Ray Hartness, Crissy Hopkins, all of Fayetteville, Stephanie and Cody Brandon of Tullahoma, Vicki and Ricky Bashlor of Savannah, Ga.; brother, Troy Wayne Young of Ardmore; and nieces and nephews, Amber, Kaylan, Abby, Chole’, Shelby, Keevan, Cade and C.J.; and many loving aunts and uncles. Funeral services were held Saturday in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Hubert Smith officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Cemetery. James Malcolm Walden, 90, of Toney, Ala., died Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2013) in Meridianville, Ala. he was retired from the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. until service time at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Bro. Jeff Walden officiating.
