Tracy speaks during RCA prayer luncheon
Several members of the Lincoln County community gathered at Riverside Christian Academy last Wednesday to pray for our community, state, and nation and to enjoy a meal together and hear a word from State Sen. Jim Tracy.
Tracy spoke to the audience about his campaign for a seat in the U.S. House as the representative of Tennessee’s fourth congressional district. The primary election will take place in August of 2014.
The senator said that he believes our country has three main problems that need to be addressed. The first problem he talked about was the decline in moral values among the nation’s citizens as a result of children being raised without a family unit.
“Our nation was founded as a nation under God. Our country’s founders came here to be able to have religious freedom, and the principles that they established are the principles that we need to get back to,” said Tracy, going on to say that the second problem is growth of the federal government. He said the government has become too big and is not efficient.
The third problem Tracy keyed on was the national debt. He said that he believes our country should have a balanced budget each year, a task that he has helped accomplish in the Tennessee General Assembly for the last eight years.
“Our leaders in Washington have to learn that we cannot spend more than we make, just like you and I have to balance our personal budget each month, our federal government needs to balance the nation’s budget,” said the senator.
“We appreciate Sen. Tracy’s representation and his dedication to strong values. We look forward to working with him for many more years,” said RCA Head of School James Bryant.
