If you didn’t know, your local library is an exciting place to be in your community! We just started up our computer classes and had a full house for our Microsoft Word beginner’s course.

Up next on Nov. 5 is Microsoft Excel and the class is already full. The following Tuesday night will be Microsoft Publisher and we still have space available, so give us a call and sign up. Next year we will be offering a continuous schedule of classes, with basic computer skills offered regularly and special topics changing from month to month.

Please stop by and fill out a survey to let us know what you are interested in and you will receive up to $5 in waivers for overdue books.

Our Homeschool Meet & Greet was a wonderful success, and we have decided to meet every month. We are working on scheduling a regular meeting time, but please call us or stop by if you are interested in attending these meetings with other homeschool families.

Our Pumpkin Decorating contest winners were Kayelee Honea, age 8, and Jessica Parriott from the adult category. Our winners received baskets filled with goodies and cool books! Thank you for helping to make our library festive this Halloween season!

The first ever FLCPL Teen Advisory Board met for the first time this month, and we have big plans in store for them! We have a fantastic group representing each high school in Lincoln County, and we are so thankful to have them and their wonderful insights into Young Adult book selections.

Coming up on Nov. 16 we will have our Catching Fire release party. Those interested in attending must sign up so we know how many people are coming. We will be watching the Hunger Games, going district-to-district in our own hunger games and competing for great prizes in trivia … not to mention “The Cupcake Fairy” will be providing us with some delectable treats. Everyone is welcome! Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and activities will begin at 6 and end at 9 p.m.

Our new Geek the Library national awareness campaign will be launched on Dec. 1, so get ready, Lincoln County! You will see us out everywhere advocating for the importance of public libraries, and we need your help! Stay tuned for more details!

One a final note, the staff here at FLCPL would like to wish our own Sherie Jacks a very happy birthday this week! Sherie brings a wonderful sweetness to our library family and we hope you will wish her a happy birthday as well!

There is something for everyone here at FLCPL, and if we don’t have what you need, we will find a way to get it! Stop by, give us a call or visit our website at www.bit.ly/flclibrary and let us know how we can help you!
