NGA falls to Ardmore
Ninth Grade Academy traveled to Blanche Middle School on Monday of last week to match up with Ardmore in the Cooper Bowl.
Coach Todd Brandon went into the game expecting to square off with the Tigers’ freshmen with a few sophomores in the mix. Instead, it was most, if not all, of Ardmore’s varsity that got off the bus. The young Falcon team wrapped up their season at 4-4, holding their ground but taking the loss, 16-0.

“Ardmore brought a group that included three seniors,” Coach Brandon said. “They ran the ball well, but I’m proud of the guys for battling against upperclassmen.
“I want to thank the community, administration and parents for a great year at NGA. The kids have worked hard and will now move on to the high school to get ready for next year.”
The Tigers took the opening possession at the 40 yard line and went 8 plays for the score with 5:44 on the clock. The two-point conversion was good, and Ardmore was up, 8-0.
The second period remained scoreless, and the Falcons trailed, 8-0, at the intermission.
In the third quarter, Ardmore took advantage of an NGA interception at their own 36-yard line. The Tigers went 64 yards in six plays for the score. The two-point conversion was good, and Ardmore was up 16-0.
The remainder of the game was scoreless, and the Tigers finished with the win.
NGA finished with 47 yards on the ground and 26 in the air. Luke Phillips had 13 carries for 66; Greg Griffin, 2 for 6; Joe Allen Alcorn, 3 for 4; Cale Flynt, 2 for 1; and Riley Harmon was 5 for –30.
Harmon was 2 of 6 in the air with two catches by Zach Tennison.
