sonny gault cotton picking - horizSeventy-year-old Sonny Gault came out for the Sixth Annual Old-Time Cotton Pickin’ Day held at D&J River Farm Friday. While picking, Gault reflected on a time when he hand-picked cotton for Carl Ogle in the same field as a boy back in the 1950’s. Today, the farm, where Josh Ogle and his wife, Julieanna, partner with his parents, David and Sherry Ogle, in a 4,500-acre row crop operation, uses advanced technology in its cotton picking operation, but at the same time, the old-fashioned way of picking is honored. ~ Staff photo by Paul Henry
