The Knights brought home awards for the trophy case in two other divisions: the middle school boys placed fourth and the middle school girls placed third.
“We had a very successful season this year. We had more runners than ever before, and they really gave it their all. Our runners worked hard in practice, and it showed throughout the season. Almost every runner improved their personal record each week,” said RCA’s Head Cross-Country Coach, Whitney Creasy.

RCA’s high school girls’ team was in close competition throughout the season with two other MTAC schools, Franklin Christian Academy and Lighthouse Christian School. The three schools took turns throughout the season placing first at the regular season conference meets.
“I was very proud of our high school girls team for winning the championship. The competition was so close between us and a couple of other schools, but we came up with a strategy for each of our girls who normally places in our top five – where they needed to push themselves most on the course, at what points they needed to pass others, and inevitably, what opponents they needed to finish in front of – and they executed the plan to the tee. Actually, we finished farther ahead of the competition in the championship meet than we ever had before,” said Creasy.
“And, the best part is, the majority of our high school girls have two years left to run. We have a very young team, so I expect to continue having success in this division.”
RCA’s high school girls’ team members include Pattie Brown, Carlee Cowan, Kelly Gleghorn, Megan Green, Mary Grace Hamilton, Leah Hampton, Kayla Hunt, Madison Quick, and Rebecca Sain.
Mary Grace Hamilton, a sophomore runner on RCA’s cross-country team, has been the Knights’ top high school girl runner this season. Her personal record for the 2013 season was 19:36.
The conference recognized a percentage of the top runners in each division during the awards ceremony at the championship meet. Mary Grace, Megan, Rebecca, Carlee and Leah all fell within the top percentage of runners who were recognized individually. Mary Grace was also named to the MTAC High School Girls First All Conference Team, and Megan and Rebecca were honorably mentioned in the All Conference Awards.
RCA’s high school boys’ team members include Ryan Campbell, Austin Collette, Peyton Ezell, Seth Mann, Cody Thurman and Jacob Wright.
“Our high school boys group had several first year runners. They made a lot of progress over the course of the season, and I’m looking forward to the progress they will make before next season, as well. One of our first year runners, Seth Mann, actually won the individual conference championship! Seth improved each week throughout the course of the season, and he really rose to the occasion at the championship meet; he was also named to the MTAC Second Team All Conference,” said Creasy.
RCA’s middle school girls brought home a third place plaque for their efforts in the conference championship meet. RCA’s middle school girl runners include Briley Bain, Heidi Ezell, Sky Gagneur, Alyssa Hampton, Sabrina Rascoe and Madde Shelton. Sabrina, Heidi and Alyssa were all recognized individually in the top percentage of runners at the championship meet awards ceremony.

The middle school boys’ team won a fourth place plaque to add to their collection at RCA.
“In the past, the middle school boys’ division is where we have been most successful. Every year that we have had a full team in the middle school boys’ division we have earned a trophy at the championship meet, so they now have three in their collection,” said Creasy.

“I’m thankful for all the runners that I was blessed to be able to coach this year, and I’m especially thankful for Dianne Rozar and Sandi Bradford for their work in helping me coach; I could never have done it without them. I hope all of our runners will return next year for another great season of running,” said Creasy.
