The 14th Annual Elk’s Scouting Adventure Day for all local children will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Stone Park in Fayetteville.
“Fayetteville Elks Lodge 1792 and the Boy Scouts of America’s Middle Tennessee Council, David Crockett District, formed a union to add each other in a link here in Lincoln County,” said Kent Galyon, a local scout leader who founded the event with Glenn King of the Elks. “The first Elk’s Scouting Adventure Day was the first event at Fayetteville’s Stone Bridge Park!
“We feel that this is the perfect place to show that the Fayetteville Elks does tons of charity work and the Boy Scouts do good turns daily, as well as a great deal of charity work that most people don’t hear about it,” he continued. “The Scouts and the Elks are not ones to brag, but now we are told by our higher-ups to let people know what all.”
During Saturday’s event, Boy Scout troops will be conducting pioneering projects for kids to enjoy, while Cub Scout packs will be playing games and holding other fun activities for children.
Additionally, Girl Scout troops will be painting faces and holding fun projects as well.
The Lincoln Country Humane Society will be showing will demonstrate how you can save a life, and Lincoln County’s Keep America Beautiful affiliate and the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Recycling Center will be showing its new trailer and demonstrating how to recycle newspaper in a unique way.
Members of Elks Lodge 1792 will be furnishing the food to support all these young people that work that day.
