Fall Break is next week! Everyone is excited for a much deserved break, but there are some things students should do before the week is over. Now is the time for students to make sure they have any and all make-up work turned in to their teachers before they leave for Fall Break. This is especially important for any student with a 9-week class.

Those classes end this week and grades will be finalized. After Fall Break, those students will start a brand new class for the remainder of the semester

Senior students should stay up to date on scholarship and college application deadlines. A list of local and national scholarship opportunities is available on the LCHS Guidance Department website. Several of local scholarship applications are available in the Guidance Office, while most national applications are available online. It is a good idea for seniors to view the list of scholarship opportunities to discover the eligibility requirements, deadlines, and instructions for each scholarship.

Local scholarship applications can be picked up in the LCHS Guidance Department a month before their due date. Students should make their own list of which scholarships they would like to make application to and be aware of those deadlines. If you need help filling out college or scholarship applications, you can always stop by or call the Guidance Department for help.

Junior and sophomore students should consider doing research on potential career paths and colleges. Students can take interest inventories to discover which careers might suit them best based on their interests and hobbies. When learning about different careers, you will want to find out what type of education is needed for that field.

Once they have an idea of what career they may like to pursue, they should then start to research colleges or technical schools that offer those programs. Students should create a list of all careers and schools that they’re interested in. Don’t worry about narrowing down your list just yet; it is ok to look into several different career and school opportunities. Remember, it is never too early to start planning your future.

If you are interested in watching any LCHS sports this week, here is the schedule.
