Pittenger captain for Scots
Former Falcon Evan Pittenger and four teammates were selected by Coach Mike Rader as team captains at Maryville College last week.
Pittenger, a sophomore quarterback, is one of two selected from the offensive side of the ball after completing 54 percent of his passes for 729 yards his rookie year. Joining Pittenger are Travis Felder, Zach Capehart, Jamie Owen and Dylan Wolfenbarger
“The young men selected were pretty much unanimous among the team,” stated Coach Rader. “I told them that this is the biggest honor you can have when your team wants you as their leader. Each has been great in the off-season trying to elevate his game and the efforts surrounding them. Their main responsibility is that the team comes to practice everyday to win the day. This is a huge honor for these individuals, and I’m proud of them.”
Also a member of the Maryville team is former Falcon Zach Shelby, a 260-pound junior offensive lineman. On Saturday, Sept. 21, the field at the University of the South at Sewanee will see several former players from LCHS as the Scots square off with the Tigers. Lincoln County’s Riley Malone, a 285-pound offensive lineman, begins his freshman year at Sewanee. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
