Robert C. (Bud) Allen, IV, 32, of Cleveland, died Saturday (Aug. 24, 2013). He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the Robert C. Allen, III, of Knoxville, mother, Toni Keith Smith, and husband, Al, of Huntsville, who survive. He was in the shipping department of the Jackson Manufacturing Company and was a Christian. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a son, Braxton Terry; a sister, Brooke Smith Norton of Ardmore; brother, Matthew Smith of Huntsville, Ala.; aunt, Jeannie Noles and husband, Patrick, of Cartersville, Ga.; aunt, Lee Ann Keith Allen Wilson of Fayetteville; grandmother, Jean Keith of Fayetteville; and several aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, James C. Keith; paternal grandparents, Robert C. and Nell Smith Allen, Jr.; and aunt, Barbara Schou. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Lena Scott Daniel, 102, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday (Aug. 21, 2013) at her residence. She was a native of Taft and the daughter of the late Thomas M. and Viola Neely Scott, a former employee of Serbin Fashions and the Daniel-Whitworth Grocery, and was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy D. George, and husband, Russell, of Fayetteville; grandsons, Dr. Mike George, and wife, Sandy, of Fayetteville, and Steve George of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Jennifer G. Howes and husband, Jeremy, of Huntsville, Ala., Russ George of Belleview, and Rick George and wife, Jennifer, of Fayetteville; great-great-grandchild, Haven Alexis Howes of Huntsville; sister-in-law, Doris Scott; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by husband, John Henry Daniel; brother and sisters, Elsie Milam, Bertha Swinford, Maude Hopkins, Ethel Harris, Grady Scott, Roy Scott and wife, Martha. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Black officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Lawrence K. Hall Jr., 57, of Fayetteville, died Saturday (Aug. 17, 2013) at Lincoln Medical Center. The son of the late Lawrence K. Hall, Sr., and Kathryn Woverton Hall, who survives, he was born in Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Huntsville, Ala. Johnson Harwell, 93, of the Beech Hill community, passed away Thursday evening (Aug. 22, 2013) at his home. He was born on March 11, 1920 in Fayetteville. A farmer in Beech Hill for over 60 years, he was a member of the Beech Hill Church of Christ and attended school at McBurg Elementary and Boonshill High School. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Harwell was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clyde and Annie Lovett Harwell, along with his brother, Aubrey Harwell. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Frances Burns Harwell of Beech Hill; daughter Linda Harwell of Beech Hill; son Roger Harwell (Patsy) of Ardmore, Ala; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home in Pulaski with Bros. Bob Vick and Jimmy Ketchum officiating. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery. Kathleen Henderson, 89, of Ardmore, died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 2013) at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Sunday, Feb. 17, 1924 in Decatur, Ala., and was the daughter of the late Thomas Barnett and the late Pearl Barnett. Her husband, James Wayne Henderson, and a grandson, Jordan Wayne Henderson, preceded her in death. She was a member of Cash Point Baptist Church. Surviving are sons, Jimmy (Dian) Henderson of Ardmore and John (Lisa) Henderson of Murfreesboro; brother, Thomas O. Barnett of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren, Phillip (Melissa) Henderson and Kelly Henderson; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bro. Derrick Moose officiating. Burial was in Blanche Cemetery. Lottie Catherine Leftwich, 92, of Fayetteville, died Thursday night (Aug. 22, 2013) in Donalson Care Center. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late David D. and Lillian Smith. Mrs. Leftwich was a gardener, homemaker and member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include son-in-law, Mark Blackwelder of Fayetteville; grandson, Mark H. Blackwelder; granddaughter, Vangie Holsted of Murfreesboro; two great-granddaughters, Breann and Blaine Holsted of Murfreesboro; and sister, Sarah Bradford of Taft. Donnie Lynn Miles, 63, of Tampa, Fla., died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 2013) at Florida Hospital of Tampa. Mr. Miles was a retired staff sergeant for the United States Army, was employed at Busch Gardens and was of the Methodist faith. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Rev. Benny Berry officiating. Burial followed in Taylor Cemetery. Pauline Moore Phillips, 91, of Middletown, Md., formerly of Fayetteville, died Wednesday (Aug. 21, 2013) in Boonsboro, Md. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Horace Jay and Mattie Plyant Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Terry Phillips and Cindy Foo of Middletown, Md.; grandson, Caroll Phillips; great-grandsons, Dylan Phillips, Dominic Phillips, all of Hagerstown, Md.; and one niece, Barbara Self, and husband, Lloyd, of Huntsville. Graveside services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Kelso Cemetery with the Rev. Kirk Smith officiating. Burial was beside her husband, Milton Goodner Phillips, who passed away in the 1980s. Kenneth Swinford, 84, of Fayetteville, died Saturday (Aug. 10, 2013) at his residence. Mr. Swinford was a native of Madison County, Ala., the son of the late Roy Weaver and Lela Olene Prince Swinford. He was a machinist and retired military. He served in the Army, Air Force and National Guard and was an ordained deacon at Parks City Baptist Church. Survivors include wife, Mevis Jobe Swinford of Fayetteville; daughters, Marsha Bradford and husband, Randy, Donna Otinger and husband, Larry, Cyndi Garrison and husband, Alan, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Ken Bradford and wife, Erica, of Fayetteville, Jeremy Bradford and wife, Jennifer, of Fayetteville, Jarred Bradford and wife, Mandy, of Madison, Ala., Luke Allen and wife, Crystal, of Las Vegas, Nev. (Nellis AFB), Brent Otinger of Fayetteville, Chad Otinger and wife, April, of Fayetteville, Valerie Garrison of Alton, Ill.; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Swinford Gardner of Fayetteville; nieces, Kim Gardner, Brianna Jones and husband, Josh; nephew, Charlie Gardner; great-nephew, Trey Hicks. Duard C. Winn, 81, of Fayetteville, died Sunday (Aug. 25, 2013) at United Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Mr. Winn was retired from Post Cereals in Battle Creek, Mich., and also worked as a farmer, a car salesman for Powers Enterprise Auto Sales and was a member of McBurg Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Flintville Cemetery with the Rev.
