Redstone awards scholarships
Redstone Federal Credit Union awarded $2,000 scholarships to thirteen deserving students who are pursuing a higher education.
The winners of this year’s scholarships in Lincoln County are Katelyn Robinson of Taft and Savannah Decker of Flintville.
The recipients were recognized at a banquet held at the Credit Union’s headquarters on Wynn Drive in Huntsville on Thursday, June 27.
Dr. John Kim, president and CEO of Geeks and Nerds Corporation, was the keynote speaker.
Seven scholarships were reserved for students attending RFCU’s partner colleges/universities:
A & M University, J.F. Drake State Technical College; The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Middle Tennessee State University, Oakwood University, Calhoun Community College and Athens State University.
Six at-large scholarships to other accredited colleges or universities were also awarded.
Scholarship applications are open to all primary account holders in good standing at RFCU, and winners are selected based on merit.
“I am thrilled that Redstone Federal Credit Union was able to award these very promising students scholarships that will help them realize their academic and career goals,” Redstone Federal Credit Union President and CEO Joe Newberry said.
“We are proud of all they have already accomplished and look forward to seeing the great contributions they will make to their communities and to their country.”
Redstone has awarded over $278,000 in scholarship money since the program began in 1996.
