The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Lincoln County man and charged him with stealing from his employer.

Robert Vann Dupree, 47, of Elora, an employee of South Central Human Resources Agency (SCHRA) and a member of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department posse, was arrested last Monday on two warrants charging him with theft and burglary.

“There was a complaint brought to us by authorities at SCHRA,” said Lincoln County Sheriff Murray Blackwelder. “We immediately turned it over to the TBI due to his relationship to the sheriff’s department. After a thorough investigation, they found probable cause to arrest him.”

While working for the South Central Human Resources Agency in Fayetteville, Dupree charged his employer’s fuel card for personal use, according to the TBI. The fraudulent charges were made on South Central Human Resources Agency accounts between September 2012 and February 2012.

“In addition, on Jan. 23, 2013, Dupree unlawfully entered the South Central Human Resources Agency facility after hours, obtained a set of master keys, entered several offices and took household items that had been donated by area businesses intended to be given to families in need,” said a TBI spokesperson.

The 17th Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI investigate the allegations in March.

Dupree was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on $1,330 bond.
