Tater & Melon Day will be held from 4-10 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at the Boonshill Community Center, 22 Red Oak Road. The event will include a chicken dinner and music by Jacob Painter and his band, 4 Miles Gone, as well as Doug Stone. The cost is $8 for the meal, $12 for the show or $20 for both the meal and show. Central High School Class of 1965 is having a “Birthday Bash” on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Museum. Tickets are $60 per couple or $30 single. Social is from 6 to 7 p.m., photos at 6:30 p.m., dinner from 7 to 8 p.m., and Four on the Floor will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. All members of the Class of ’65 are invited.
Central High School Class of 1978 will be holding its class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Dragonfly Gallery & Design, 125 Main Avenue South, from 7 until 10 p.m. The cost is $10 per person in advance or $15 per person at the door. The 2013 Locker Family Reunion will be held at Miss Betty’s Park City Restaurant south of Fayetteville on Saturday, Aug. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. A buffet lunch will be at 12 noon, or attendees can order from the menu. Each person attending will be responsible for the cost of his/her meal. Descendants of James, William and Mary Locker, their families and friends, are invited, as well as other Locker descendants who believe they may be related.
The Class of 1993 will hold its 20th reunion Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21. On Friday a family picnic will be held at King Park at 6 p.m. Everyone should bring their own food and drinks for the evening. On Saturday the reunion will be held at the Fairgrounds beginning at 7 p.m. (BYOB). Cost is $30 per person, or $60 per couple, if paid in advance. Make checks payable to Class of 1993 and include an email address on the memo line. The cost will be higher at the door. Mail checks by Aug. 21 to Kim Bills Taylor, 150 W. Weekly Saturday night dances are held at the American Legion Post 42, 2007 Wilson Parkway, from 7-10 p.m. The dance is open to the public, and the facility is a nonsmoking building, though a smoking area is provided outside. Country Roads Band plays a mix of country, country rock and classic rock and roll music. The cover charge is $5 per person. The kitchen grill is open for the sale of sandwiches, fries and soft drinks. The American Legion is a nonprofit organization, and proceeds from the dances helps in the funding for the aide to the veterans of Lincoln County.
Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center’s Senior Dance is held each Tuesday from 1 until 4 p.m. Cover charge is $3 per person. A live band is on hand to provide music. Bring a dish to pass or just come and relax, listen to music, dance, eat and enjoy. The Senior Citizens Center is located at 908 West Washington Street, Fayetteville.
Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held each Monday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, located at 106 East Washington Street in Fayetteville. For more information, call (931) 227-7908.
Senior citizens’ exercise classes are currently being held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center.
