The Stone Bridge Garden Club met at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Museum and Civic Center for the spring cleaning day of the public gardens.
Vickie Small and Martha Lyon served as co-hostesses. Teresa Brown presented the meditation and blessing.
Following a light luncheon of ham and egg casserole, garlic cheese grits, fruit salad, Tatum ham and cheese roles, plus honey apple cake, the ladies enjoyed the 15 arrangements and 123 specimens the members had brought to the meeting.
In the absence of Cindy Kite, president, Eda Tabor, secretary, opened the business meeting and thanked the hostesses for preparing the foods and drinks. The monthly workers reported to the gardens. The April workers were Debbie Formosa and Cindy Kite, and the May workers are Connie Glazener and Abby Underwood.
Debbie Formosa is busy arranging details for the May meeting at the home and business of Kevin and Pat Sanders. The club’s first field trip to DOT Tool in Booneville was in 2009. The garden club brings a picnic lunch, and DOT Tool employees help them create unique items for their gardens. This year, the club will be making wind chimes using metal objects, like watering cans with beaten silverware for chimes. Debbie Formosa and Sandy Trentham will be the hostesses.
The landscape committee is chaired by Faye Liddie. Also serving on the committee are Barbara Cantrell and Teresa Brown. The museum plantings had suffered damage from horseplay and were in need of special attention to bring it back to a garden of healthy plants. Faye Liddie spent many hours getting ready for the work day. The ladies knew upon arrival that the rainy weather would not allow for weeding and planting that day, so the next day Abby Underwood, Eda Tabor, Patty Patrick, Faye Liddie, Cindy Kite, and Vickie Small began the spring improvements. New plants added to the Welcome Center included euonymus, lantana, zinnias, and sweet potato vine. The museum plants included boxwoods, lantana, and wax myrtle. The Fayetteville/Lincoln County Library needed wedding and mulching, plus hostas and liriope were added.
Those ladies participating in the meeting included Teresa Brown, Barbara Cantrell, Linda Gentle, Connie Glazener, Faye Liddie, Martha Lyon, Patty Patrick, Melanie Robinson, Eda Tabor, Abby Underwood, Brenda Underwood, and Vickie Small.
