Moment in May will be presented by Fayetteville Main Street at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Museum and Civic Center on Thursday, May 9, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. For information, call (931) 433-7006.

 

All-you-can-eat pancake breakfast sponsored by Moore County Relay For Life team, Hot Shots, Eagles and Birdies, will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Lynchburg on Friday, May 10. Pancakes, sausages and drinks will be served from 6:30 until 11 a.m. for a cost of $5 per person.  Moore County Relay For Life will be June 7 from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. on June 8 in Wiseman Park.

 

The annual barbecue chicken supper at Howell Community Center will be held Saturday, May 11, starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $8 each. Proceeds go towards upkeep of the community center, which is located in the former Howell School, just off Lewisburg Highway in Howell. After 99 years, air conditioning has arrived at the community center. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the supper while supporting the community center.

 

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 6 until 10 a.m. on the Fayetteville square.

 

World’s Shortest Parade,  homecoming and a variety of other events, sponsored by the Vanntown Volunteer Fire Department, will be held Saturday, May 18. The day of fun will get underway with the parade at 9 a.m., followed by games for the kids, good food, live music and an auction at 2 p.m. Barbecue chicken and barbecue sandwiches will be served. A retirement reception honoring Wilma Muse and Coach Louis Thompson will be held Sunday, May 19, from 2-4 p.m. at Lincoln County High School.

 

Battalion, a Christian music group, is playing a life concert at The Basement on Saturday, May 25, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free, and the concert is open to all ages. The basement is located at 301 East Market Street, Fayetteville.

 

Friends of the Library speaker Jillian Rael will present Preserving & Caring for Historic Photographs from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, in the Genealogy Room of at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Library. The event is free and open to the public; donations appreciated.

 

Music in the Park featuring 4-Way Stop will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, at the Stonebridge Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

48th Annual Arts Festival will be held at Stonebridge Memorial Park on Friday and Saturday, June 14-15.

 

Regular events

 

Weekly Saturday night dances are held at the American Legion Post 42, 2007 Wilson Parkway, from 7-10 p.m. The dance is open to the public, and the facility is a nonsmoking building, though a smoking area is provided outside. Country Roads Band plays a mix of country, country rock and classic rock and roll music. The cover charge is $5 per person. The kitchen grill is open for the sale of sandwiches, fries and soft drinks. The American Legion is a nonprofit organization, and proceeds from the dances helps in the funding for the aide to the veterans of Lincoln County.

 

Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center’s Senior Dance is held each Tuesday from 1 until 4 p.m. Cover charge is $3 per person. A live band is on hand to provide music. Bring a dish to pass or just come and relax, listen to music, dance, eat and enjoy. The Senior Citizens Center is located at 908 West Washington Street, Fayetteville.

 

 

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held each Monday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, located at 106 East Washington Street in Fayetteville. For more information, call (931) 227-7908.

 

Senior citizens’ exercise classes are currently being held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center.
