Employment fairs highlight area jobs
Every year during the first full week of May, Goodwill agencies across the United States and Canada celebrate the power of work through local events and promotions.
This year, Governor Bill Haslam issued a state proclamation declaring the week of May 6 as Goodwill Week in Tennessee.
Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee will celebrate Goodwill Week by hosting approximately 40 events, including 30 job fairs, at the 23 Goodwill Career Solutions centers across Middle and West Tennessee. Two of those events will take place at the Goodwill Career Solutions center in Shelbyville.
The center will host a job fair workshop to help you get prepared for a job fair. Join in at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, to learn the essentials of being one step ahead in your job search and making the most out of attending a job fair. The workshop will be held at Career Solutions, 108 Lane Parkway, Shelbyville.
The center will host a job fair from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10, for multiple employers, including National Pen Company, Calsonic Kansei North America, Select Staffing and Aid & Assist At Home.
National Pen Company is looking to fill more than 100 positions at their Shelbyville facility. Openings include everything from manufacturing to call center sales. Calsonic Kansei is looking for several production technicians for its Shelbyville and Smyrna locations. Select Staffing is looking to fill dozens of manufacturing and warehouse positions for companies in Bedford and Rutherford counties. Aid & Assist At Home has several openings for caregivers in Bedford, Lincoln, Moore and Franklin counties.
Representatives from these companies will be on site and interviews are possible, so dress for success. Job candidates are encouraged to bring resumes, photo ID, Social Security card or birth certificate.
