Multi-unit driveways focus of hearing

The Fayetteville Regional Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday of this week, April 23, to consider amending subdivision regulations so as to require driveways accessing multi-unit residences to meet city’s standards.

Prompting the move are concerns related to making sure private streets or roads – driveways – are accessible to emergency vehicles, particular large vehicles such as fire trucks, for the good of public health, safety and welfare. The standard would apply to the city as well as the city’s urban growth area.

The hearing was called for during the planning commission’s March meeting, which also saw planners approve an upstairs living unit at 106 Main Avenue North, contingent upon it passing all other inspections.

The hearing will be held at the Fayetteville Municipal Building beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
