LC tennis teams host matches

Lincoln County High School’s tennis teams had two matches last week, hosting Tullahoma and Shelbyville.
Against the Eagles, the girls took the win, 4-3. The boys were defeated, 7-0. In action with Tullahoma, the ladies were swept, 7-0. The Falcons were edged out, 4-3.
Wednesday at home against Shelbyville in boys’ singles play, Daniel Selfridge lost, 8-6. Matthew Posey was defeated, 8-2. Barrett Wright lost in a tiebreaker, 9-7. Patrick Scott went down, 8-1, and Justin Plunkett lost 8-2.
In boys’ doubles action, Selfridge/Posey were defeated, 8-1, and Wright/Scott went down, 8-2. In the girls’ play against the Lady Eagles, Morgan Helums won, 8-3. Chelsi Wheat finished on top, 8-5. Lauren Gower lost in a tiebreaker, 9-7. Hanna Counts went down, 8-3, and Jasmine Bello was defeated, 8-3.
In the girls’ doubles action with Shelbyville, Wheat/Gower won 8-5. Helums/Counts went down, 8-3.

Monday, LCHS hosted Tullahoma. In the boys’ singles play, Selfridge won, 8-5. Posey finished on top, 8-2. Wright went down, 8-2. Scott was defeated in a tiebreaker, 9-7. Plunkett was defeated, 8-3. In boys’ doubles action against the ‘Cats, Selfridge/Posey won 8-6, and Wright/Scott lost 8-2.
In the girls’ singles play, Wheat went down, 8-3. Gower was defeated, 8-2. Bello went down, 8-2. Atkinson was defeated, 8-3, and Sarah Watson fell, 8-4. In the girls’ doubles match, Wheat and Gower were defeated, 8-3.
For their next action, the LCHS tennis team hosts Franklin County Tuesday at 4 p.m.
