The City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Main Street, Fayetteville-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and Keep Fayetteville/Lincoln County Beautiful, Inc., announce April 13-21 will be the Community Spring Cleanup.
“Dump the Junk” is aimed at cleaning up the city streets and neighborhoods. Residents are asked to leave limbs, leaves, household trash, rugs, tires (up to 4), household appliances and auto batteries on the curb for pickup.
Anyone who is disabled or unable to clean your yards or move items to the curb are asked to contact the Fayetteville Municipal Building at 433-6154 to get help lined up for this event.
Paint and electronics are taken year round at the Recycle Center. Residents are reminded that some paint, in small quantities, is available for sprucing up your porch, mailbox, planter boxes, etc. Just stop by the Recycle Center and see what is available.
The Recycle Center is holding a “Recycle Roundup” on April 19, and officials want you to recycle all your Plastic #1 & 2, newspaper, magazines, books, plastic shopping bags, cardboard, metal food cans and aluminum cans. The Book Adoption will be open for you to select a book to take home. Monetary donations are appreciated.
The Shredder Truck from Huntsville will be here April 19 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. This is a free service and would be a great time to securely shred your old tax records, personal papers, etc., without having to stand over a personal shredder for hours. Load up in advance so you don’t miss the shredder truck.
Lincoln County will not have a Household Hazardous Waste Event this spring since the Recycle Center takes paint and electronics all year and the auto parts places here take used motor oil. The turnout for this event has been very low over the past few years so organizers are switching to every other year for this event. Truly hazardous waste that you do not want to hold until next spring can be taken to any neighboring county that is holding an HHW event. Area events are planned as follows: April 13, Coffee County HHW event, Tullahoma Public Works Facility, 942 Maplewood Ave., 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.; April 20, Giles County, Highway Department, at 400 Bennett Drive in Pulaski, 8 a.m. until noon; and April 20, Moore County, Recycle Center at 748 Booneville Highway in Lynchburg, 8 a.m. until noon.
