Lincoln County High School’s tennis teams swept Lawrence County last week, but both teams went down to Tullahoma.
At home against Lawrenceburg, the Lady Falcons won 6-2; the Falcons edged out the win, 4-3.
In the girls’ single action, Morgan Helums lost to Flore Louette, 2-8; Chelsi Wheat won over Lexie Tietgens, 8-2; Hanna Counts defeated Katie Wayne, 8-2; Lauren Gower won over Kayla Hammons, 8-2; Ashley Atkinson defeated Amanda McDaniel, 8-3.
In the girls’ double play, Gower/Helums defeated Louette/Tietgens, 8-6, and Wheat/Counts won over Wayne/Kilburn, 8-4.
In the ladies’ JV action, Jasmine Bello/Sarah Watson won, 4-1, and Bella Beddingfield/Hayley McGee won 4-3.
In the Falcons’ singles play, Daniel Selfridge defeated Tays Robertson, 8-2; Matthew Posey won over Justin Smith, 8-0; Barrett Wright lost to Will Burress, 5-8; Patrick Scott was defeated by Trenton Delane, 6-8; Justin Plunkett won over Kinley Jones, 8-0.
In boys’ doubles, Selfridge/Posey won over Smith/Robertson, 8-2, and Wright/Scott lost, 4-8, to Duress/Delane. In JV doubles, Brian Shouse/Blaze Harrell lost, 6-3.
On the road in Tullahoma, the ladies went down, 6-1; the boys lost 5-2.
In girls’ singles play, Helums lost to Laura Burke, 2-8; Wheat lost to Abby Tackett, 0-8; Counts lost to Kate Myers, 0-8; Gower won over Prestley Brown, 8-0; Atkinson lost to Judy Harrell, 1-8.
In JV play, Allie Bridge won 4-0, and Shannon Durrenberger won, 4-1.
In the girls’ doubles, Gower/Helums lost to Burke/Tackett, 3-8, and Bello/Watson lost to Myers/ Brown, 2-8.
In boys’ singles, Selfridge won over Reed Gabriel, 8-4; Posey won over Dean Blands, 8-4; Wright lost 1-8 to JP Fraley; Scott lost 2-8 to Caleb Olive; Plunkett was defeated 2-8 by Austin Smith. In JV play, Shouse won 4-1, and Blaze lost 4-5.
The boys’ doubles saw Selfridge/Posey fall 9-8 in a tiebreaker to Gabriel/Blanks, and Wright/Scott lose, 7-9, to Fraley/Olive.
For their next action, Lincoln County was to host Tullahoma on Monday, then travel to Lawrence County on Tuesday. Wednesday, the Falcons host Hazel Green in a boys only match starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, Shelbyville comes to town, also starting at 4 p.m.
