Evelyn Maurine Alexander, 49, of Toney, Ala., died Monday (March 25, 2013) at Athens-Limestone Hospital. A native of Madison County, Ala., she was a painter. The family received guests on Thursday afternoon at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Katie Ruth West Arney, 94, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday night (March 27, 2013) in Donalson Care Center. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Lee and Nola Pearl Davis West. Mrs. Arney was a homemaker, retired from Serbin Fashions and a member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Arney was an honorary director of Lincoln County Farm Bureau. Survivors include a daughter, Arlene Sanders of Scottsboro, Ala.; son, Marshall  (Myra) Arney of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Melanie (Johnny) Pitcock of Fayetteville, Hugh Arney of Murfreesboro, Tim (Nicole) Hinds of Colorado; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Arney was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Lee and Nola Pearl Davis West; husband, Tom Crawford Arney; sisters, Elizabeth Moser, Sara Cooper, Aileen Doyle; brother, Sidney L. West; great-granddaughter, Catherine Rae Pitcock; and son-in-law, Robert L. Sanders. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial followed in Boonshill Cemetery beside her husband, Tom Crawford Arney, who passed away in 1993. Memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Elmer Orlyn Bankston, 88, of Fayetteville, died Monday (March 25, 2013) at Donalson Care Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 3, 1924 to the late Fred and Lula Shockley Bankston. He was a steel finisher and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Bankston is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bankston of Fayetteville; daughters, Vickie and Bob Watson of Graylon, Mich., and Kay and Roy Toomer of New Boston, Mich.; sons, Donnie and Violet Bankston and Jamie and Tina Bankston, both of Fayetteville; sister, Dorothy Pamplin of Trenton, Mich.; brother, Joe Neal Bankston of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Dale Smith, Valerie Bankston, Crystal Toomer, Nicholas Bankston, Nathan Bankston, Jeremy Jones, Anthony Jones; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Doud officiating. Burial followed in Booneville Cemetery. Jean Campbell, 67, of Austell, Ga., died Tuesday (March 26, 2013) at her residence. She was born in Franklin County and worked as an assembly line worker. Funeral services were held Friday morning in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin “Doc” Frady officiating. Burial followed in Cochran Cemetery. Eddy Gatlin, 57, of Dellrose, died Monday morning (March 25, 2013) at Lincoln Medical Center. A native of Peoria, Ill., he was the son of the late Edward Ray and Burnadean Birdsong and was an employee of Goodman for 38 years. Survivors include his wife, Cammy Baker Gatlin of Dellrose; brother, Benny Gatlin of Dellrose; step-children, Ellen Courtright and Paul Courtright, both of Meridianville, Ala; two aunts, Almajean Birdsong of Dellrose; and Doris Smith of Fayetteville. Mr. Gatlin was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Derek Gatlin. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday morning at Shiloh Cemetery with the Rev. Wanda Faye Sharp, 78, a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area, died Thursday (March 28, 2013) at Ardmore on Main in Ardmore. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Bros. Bobby Hudson and Carl Witty officiating. Interment was in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Ala. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mable Alta Stewart, 89, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday night (March 27, 2013) in Huntsville Hospital. A native of Jackson County, Ala., Mrs. Stewart was the daughter of the late Harve and Mariah Webb Kimbrough, a former employee of Serbin Fashions and a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Larry Stewart of Fayetteville; two granddaughters, Sky Stewart (Cory Hardiman) of Fayetteville and Sage Stewart of Huntsville, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Miranda, Timothy, Riley and Jayden; brother, Hugh Kimbrough of Vanntown; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wayne Stewart; parents, Harve and Mariah Webb Kimbrough; two sisters, Mary Price and Callie Owens; and one brother Glen Kimbrough. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Graham officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Cemetery beside her husband, Harold Wayne Stewart.
