The Vet Center mobile van greeted the Vietnam Era Veterans as they arrived for last month’s meeting at the American Legion Post 23.
Jose Melesio, a veterans outreach specialist at the Nashville Vet Center, addressed a large turnout of area veterans.
Melesio told the group about the services offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs readjustment counseling at the Vet Center. He explained how the Vet Center serves veterans and their families by providing a continuum of quality care. He noted the care includes professional readjustment counseling, community education, outreach to special populations, the brokering of services with community agencies and providing a key access link between the veterans and others in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Vet Center is located in Nashville at 1420 Donelson Pike, Suite A-5. The phone number is 615-336-1220.
The Vet Center mobile van will visit Shelbyville again in June.
