2013 fab 50's_0171This year’s Fabulous Fifties Show, themed “Yesterday Once More,” wraps up with performances this weekend.

The remaining Fabulous Fifties performances will be held Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1:30 and 7 p.m.

Although it’s named “The Fabulous Fifties Show”, the 27th annual production has progressed into the 60’s and 70s songs to include songs familiar to all ages.

“When choosing our song list, we try to find songs that have a 50’s sound, have been remade in different decades and/or have been featured in movies or commercials,” said Jane Wilcox, producer of the show.

Dorothy Small“Whatever the case, we try to evoke emotion, memories of the past and make you want to move your feet and clap your hands. You will have a great time at the Fabulous Fifties Show!”

Great poetic license is taken when choosing the costumes. Not all of them come from the 1950’s era. Sometimes the singers and actors dress according to what is going on in the script. At other times, the costumes fit the style of the original artist who sang the song.

“No matter what is worn, the clothes are chosen with care and consideration for that place in the show. Hopefully, what is chosen will bring back memories of times gone by,” added Wilcox.

“Our choreographer, Jessica Buckley, helps us bring excitement to some of our group songs, along with some production members. Be ready for some fun audience participation.”

Fab 50sLisa Swift has donated her time to make some of the costumes, and Butch Williams is the set designer.

James Hudson of Coldwater Studios is overseeing the sound. The stage managers are Sonia Bradford, Vandie Davis and Jennifer Bradford. Jennifer and Sonia Bradford will also be in charge of lighting.

“You will be amazed at the artwork on our backdrop done by our local artists, Carl Gleghorn and Jennie Roles-Walter and her art students from Fayetteville High School,” Wilcox said. “Our logo was created by Cindy Harwell.”

Ticket prices have been the same for several years so as not to put a strain on people’s pocketbooks. Ticket prices are $15 for adults; $5 for children three- to 12-years-old; and children three and under are admitted free when held by an adult.
