4-H’er Piggy Bank Pageant is this week

The public is invited to view the Lincoln County 4-H Club’s piggy bank pageant during the week of March 11-15. 

The piggy bank pageant is all part of raising adults’ and children’s awareness of saving and managing money with the Tennessee Saves program through the University of Tennessee Extension. 

This year there will be pre-4-H (pre-K-3rd grade) division. The 4-Hers will enter their piggy banks in the pageant on either Monday the 11th or Tuesday the 12th of March by taking them to the following locations during regular banking hours: third grade and younger, CB&S Bank at 1422 Huntsville Highway; fourth grade, Bank of Lincoln County’s Main Branch at 307 East College Street; fifth grade, First National Bank’s Main Branch at 405 West College Street; sixth to 12th grade, Region’s Bank’s Main Branch at 302 East College Street.

The piggy banks will be judged and winners announced on Wednesday, March 13. The piggy banks will be displayed in local banks until the afternoon of Friday, March 15. All banks must be picked up by the bank’s close of business on Friday, March 15.

Winners in each division of the county contest will win a monetary prize.  The amount for placing third is $5; second, $8; and first, $12. 

All piggy banks have to be no larger than 12”x 12” and are to be made by the child or 4-H’er to qualify.
