Motlow College will be offering a Workforce Development Readiness Certificate program that will prepare students to enter the workforce with basic soft skills and basic industrial skills necessary to meet the current needs of local businesses and industries.
The classes, to be held at the Motlow College Fayetteville Center, are offered at no cost to participants. The certificate program will consist of four modules, each four hours in length.
Module One, Ethics and Responsibilities, will be held March 18. It will focus on the definition of ethics and real world situations, employee responsibilities, dealing with change in the workplace, time management, and teamwork.
Module Two, Effective Communications, will be conducted March 25. That class will include written and oral skills, effective listening, communications etiquette, reading skills or following work instructions, and writing skills or writing work instructions.
Module Three, Basic Industrial Math Skills, will be held on April 1 and include calculations, simple word problems and resolutions, and application to manufacturing.
Module Four, Basic Industrial Skills, will be presented April 8. It will focus on safety in the workplace, use of PPE, OSHA and OSHA regulations, basic application of mechanical tools, and use of precision measuring tools.
Each of the classes will meet from 5-9 p.m. each evening in room FC023 of the Sundquist Center for Advanced Technology on the Motlow Fayetteville campus.
