Bevels performs at Motlow
Lincoln County’s Hillary Bevels, a fiddler, dancer and Motlow College graduate, was one of five musicians to be featured during an international concert held at the college.
A reception open to the public was held in conjunction with the concert. International foods were served.
Other performers, in addition to Bevels, were Pete Huttlinger, a national fingerstyle guitar champion; Jim and Inge Wood, founders of the Tennessee Fiddle Orchestra; and Nate Strasser, a piano virtuoso.
Fifteen different instruments, including the classical guitar, fiddle and mandolin, were played during the concert, which included music from many countries, as well as Irish and Canadian dancing.
Bevels is a third-place national buck dancing champion and winner of the Macon Doubler Fellowship Scholarship. She has studied music in Peru and Brazil and is the concert master for the Tennessee Fiddle Orchestra. She is an engineer at Jim Wood’s recording studio and is a student at Middle Tennessee State University.
