Student art to grace FHS foyer
FHS Art II students of Jennie Roles-Walter show paintings that will be displayed in the school’s foyer: (front, from left) Keawana Jones (Grant), Hannah Russell (Presley), Des-tiny Jackson (Roose-velt), Jordan Ray (Arm-strong), Jixi Watson (Poe), Nicole Crim (Newton), (back) Aaron Parks (Tubman), Sum-mer Shelton (Einstein), Allie Heffington (O’Keefe), Madison Newton (Armstrong), Donavon Buford (King) and Aerion McDonald (Madame C.J. Walker).
Fayetteville High School Art II students, in Jennie Roles-Walter’s class, recently completed detailed acrylic paintings they created in the Chuck Close gridded paint method.
The assignment took nearly four weeks to complete, painting 80 boxes, one at a time, to make up the image depicted on their canvas.
Students chose the prominent individuals that they painted.

The paintings were framed by Brenda Williams Roles of R.D. Williams Gifts and Framing, and a plaque with the artist’s name and title was engraved and mounted to the frames, compliments of Alison Heffington of The Wishing Well Engraving and Jewelry.
The paintings will be permanently displayed in the school’s foyer.
