LCHS swim team second in division; Hughes goes to state

Lincoln County High School’s swim team had a successful season, finishing second in their division. 

Several LCHS swimmers qualified and competed at Middle Tennessee High School Swim Association’s (MTHSSA) Regional Championship meet in Nashville at Centennial Sportsplex on Jan. 25. 

Their events, times and places are as follows: 

Bailey Osgood:  100 Butterfly – 1:16.32 (67th Place); Rachael Freeman:  50 Free – 30.31 (128th Place), 100 Free – 1:08.66 (101st Place); Ben Alford:  100 Butterfly – 1:07.11 (46th Place), 100 Back – 1:08.08 (39th  Place);

Bea Frame:  200 Free – 2:24.11 (31st Place), 50 Free – 30.08 (116th Place); Shannon McCool:  100 Free – 1:06.77 (78th Place), 100 Breast – 1:27.68 (49th Place); Kelsey Hughes:  50 Free – 25.54 (7th Place), 100 Butterfly – 1:03.34 (11th Place);

Miriam Davis:  100 Butterfly – 1:22.77 (51st place), 100 Breast – 1:28.46 (53rd Place); Will Robinson:  50 Free – 26.59 (113th Place), 100 Free – 1:02.02 (101st Place); Beth Storey:  50 Free – 29.59 (87th Place), 100 Free – 1:07.00 (84th Place);

Taylor Kidd:  100 Butterfly – 1:14.79 (41st Place), 100 Back – 1:18.53 (70th Place); Nicholas Horsman:  200 Free – 2:04.40 (30th Place), 500 Free – 5:55.41 (29th Place); John Moravits:  100 Free – 57.99 (56th Place), 50 Free – 25.65 (80th Place);

Kayla Moravits:  100 Free – 1:06.82 (80th Place), 100 Back – 1:17.16 (61st Place); 200 Yard Women’s Medley Relay (Taylor Kidd, Kelsey Hughes, Kayla Moravits, Beth Storey) – 2:09.65 (17th Place); 200 Women’s Free Relay (Taylor Kidd, Rachael Freeman, Miriam Davis, Bea Frame) – 2:02.55 (27th Place);

200 Yard Men’s Free Relay (John Moravits, Nicholas Horsman, Bailey Osgood, Will Robinson) – 1:48.51 (27th Place); 400 Yard Women’s Free Relay (Beth Storey, Bea Frame, Shannon McCool, Kelsey Hughes) – 4:26.50 (16th Place); and 400 Yard Men’s Free Relay (Nicholas Horsman, John Moravits, Will Robinson, Ben Alford) – 3:54.20 (14th Place).

In addition, Kelsey Hughes qualified for the TISCA State Championship meet on Feb. 8 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  Kelsey competed in the 50 Free, finishing 18th with a time of 25.14, and the 100 Butterfly, finishing 29th with a time of 1:02.06.  She has also qualified to swim in the Southeastern Championship meet with USA Swimming.
